Effect of Trichoderma and fungicide on seedling establishment and yield performance of dry direct seeded boro rice (original) (raw)
Poor seedling establishment and seedling mortality is the major barrier to optimum stand establishment in dry direct seeded boro rice. Experiments were carried out at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, Bangladesh during January to June 2013 to study the effect of Trichoderma and fungicide application on seedling establishment and yield performance of dry direct seeded Boro rice. The experiment comprised ten treatment combinations of Trichoderma and fungicides viz. seed treatment with Trichoderma (M1), seed treatment with Trichoderma+spraying of Thiovit (M2), seed treatment with Trichoderma + spraying of Propiconazole (M3), seed treatment with Trichoderma + spraying of Thiovit and Propiconazole (M4), spraying of Thiovit (M 5), spraying of Propiconazole (M6), seed treatment with Thiovit + spraying of Propiconazole (M7), seed treatment with Propiconazole + spraying of Thiovit (M8), spraying of mixture of Thiovit and Propiconazole (M9), and control (no fungicide or Trichoderma) (M10).The experiments used Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Experiment revealed that seed treatment with Trichoderma harzianum followed by spraying of Thiovit gave the highest yield of rice. The study concludes that Trichoderma and then application of sulphur fungicide at 20 days after sowing could be practiced for ensuring high seedling establishment and yield of rice under dry direct seeded system in boro season.

Enhancement of Germination and Seedling Health of Rice by Seed Treatment with Antagonist Fungi
International Journal of Scientific Research in Biological Sciences, 2020
Germination and seedling health is important for effective crop establishment. Application of Aspergillus spp. and Trichoderma spp. is the alternative way of intensified germination and healthy seedling production in the crop field. Rice seeds were coated with a spore mass of antagonists showed a significant increase in seed germination and healthy seedlings production compared to the control. At the same time leaf infection, collar infection, root infection, and seedling blight symptoms also decreased remarkably. The highest germination and healthy seedling were recorded 80.33% and 74.37% respectively by T. harzianum treatment. Seeds were subjected to soaking with three water-based culture filtrates (30%, 50%, and 70%) obtained from both three species of Aspergillus and Trichoderma (A. flavus, A. niger, A. terreus, T. viride, T. harzianum, T. hamatum) for 6, 12 and 24 hours. The highest reduction of fungal associations and increased germination was observed 36% and 79.33% respectively in T. harzianum treatment compared to untreated control. The effect was more prominent at the highest dose (70%) and the maximum seed soaking period (24 hours). Apart from all antagonist treatments test fungicide Tilt 250 EC depicted excellent control effect (22.0%). A. niger and T. harzianum were found more potent in reducing seed-borne fungal association as well as improved germination and seedling health.
Enhancement of Rice Seed Germination and Vigour by Trichoderma spp
Research Journal of Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology
The present study was undertaken to examine the effectiveness of Trichoderma spp. to enhance rice germination and vigour. An in vitro experiment was carried out to assess the effect of seven isolates of Trichoderma spp. in enhancing rice germination and vigour. The results showed that all isolates of Trichoderma spp. significantly increased rice seedling growth, germination rate, vigour index and speed of germination with sp., SL2 showing the greatest increase in all the four parameters. Trichoderma sp., SL2 treated rice seeds attained values of 4.48 and 6.00 cm, 0.0084 and 0.0048 g and 1016.56 and 44.75 seeds/day for seedling shoot length seedling root length, shoot weight, root weight, vigour index and speed of germination respectively. We may conclude that Trichoderma spp. is able to enhance seed germination and vigour. The results of the study adds to the further understanding of the role of beneficial fungi in improving rice resistance to stress, yield and quality through seed ...
Enhanced Rice Seedling Growth by Trichoderma sp. FCR1
Trichoderma spp. is a plant growth promoting fungi which is reported to have positive effects on the growth of many crops. Our previous study has reported the capacity of Trichoderma spp. in enhancing rice germination and vigour. In this study, the effectiveness of a local isolate Trichoderma sp. FCR1 to enhance rice seedlings growth was assessed experimentally under greenhouse condition using a completely randomized design. The results showed that the inoculation of the rice plants with Trichoderma sp. FCR1 significantly increased rice plants height, root length, wet weight, leaf number and biomass compared to untreated rice plants (control). The result of this study can serve as a reference for further work on the application of beneficial microorganisms to enhance rice production.
