Effect of Personality Traits on Job Performance

The effect of personality traits on job performance is an area that is being researched upon for a considerably long time. This is fundamentally due to the importance it holds to the management for analyzing organizational behavior. One of the methods for assessing personality is ‘The Big Five Model’. In this paper the effect of personality, as assessed by the mentioned model, and job satisfaction on the job performance of the employees of BASIC Bank is scrutinized. Academic and scholarly literature is referred to as well for a more comprehensive analysis. Factors such as extraversion, emotional stability, agreeableness, openness to experience and conscientiousness, all being elements of the Model, and their individual effect on job performance are explained based on the research findings. The explanations are given both in detailed form and mathematical analyses in terms of correlation and other technicalities. The research was conducted on the basis of a sample of a hundred employees of BASIC Bank. In compliance with the contemporary and classic findings a relationship between personality and job performance is found, as is elaborated in this paper. The paper finds strong correlation between some personality factors and job satisfaction while in others the correlation is not that strong. However, there is correlation nonetheless and eligible implications are drawn from them. Much research on organizational behavior with which the academia is acquainted with is based on Western contexts. This paper is, however, an analysis based in a Bangladeshi context. The paper concludes with total integrity that there is an effect of personality on job performance.

The Influence of Personality on Job Satisfaction At PT. Surya Windu Pertiwi Serdang Bedagai

This study aims to analyze personality, job satisfaction and the influence of personality on job satisfaction of employees of PT Surya Windu Pertiwi Serdang Bedagai. Respondents in this study were employees of PT Surya Windu Pertiwi Serdang Bedagai consisting of 43 respondents. The data analysis method used is descriptive statistics and simple regression. The results of the test show that the personality of openees to experience is a prominent personality of the employees of PT Surya Windu Pertiwi Serdang Bedagai with an average score of 3.8889. Meanwhile, the average value of descriptive statistics for the job satisfaction variable was 3.1457, indicating that the employees of PT Surya Windu Pertiwi Serdang Bedagai still did not have good job satisfaction. The impact of Personality traits on the Job performance of employees is absolutely clear and many organizations use this effect on their employees. Personality is one of the major psychological factors affecting the human behavior. It is important in the work place. In psychology, the five personality traits are five broad domains or dimensions of personality. Personality traits have an important role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of employee's job performance. The findings states that Personality traits positively correlated with Job performance and Conscientiousness is having attributes that directly relates to Job performance of employees with highest weights. The Effect of Employees Personality on Organizational Performance: Study on Insurance Company

This project is primarily concerned with the analysis of personality in private company with particular references to the employees at Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad (PAMB). In doing this, the researcher briefly explain some of the problem facing about the personality and behavior of person or employees that can be impact on performances. The research work further reviewed to the related literature on the subject matter to sample the opinions of various authors on the subject. The review of related literatures centered on personality types, theories, and effect on performances. The study employed drafted questionnaire, and the use of primary data as the major instrument for gathering information. The data gathered was analyzed based on questionnaire distributed to the respondents. The sample size of this research is about 100 of respondents. Based on the findings from the analysis of data, the study found that Conscientiousness and Agreeableness have a significant and positive impact on organizational performance. Conclusions was drawn and recommendation also made on how to ensure employees gives positively personality not only in the workplace but also to the environment in order to ensure that the employees always produces good behavior and personality to increase the productivity and performance of the organization. Future research should be undertaken on different context or by increasing the sample size by widening the research context to ensure validity and reliability of the results.

The study pertains to relating the five factors of personality and individual level job performance of employees working in both the managerial and executive cadre in Indian organisations. A critical and pervasive variable like job performance has often been taken as a unitary construct which was predominantly related to Task Performance and contextual performance This study has made an earnest attempt to identify and evaluate the other components of job performance like Adaptability, Employee productivity/efficiency, job stress and stability and its relationship with personality factors.The current study (Sample size N = 316) analyzed the predictive validity the Five factors of personality in both the manufacturing and service industries .It was found that the factors associated with the five factor model of personality Conscientiousness, extraversion and emotional stability were valid predictors of job performance and had variable impact upon the various components of job performance viz., task performance, adaptability, employee productivity / efficiency. Neuroticism had a significant relationship with job stress. In most of the occasions, the variables did not have any impact on the job stress and stability components of job performance.

Do Personalities and Motivation Affect Job Performance? An Evidence from a Rural Bank in Central Java

Good employee performance is the main thing for the company. Poor performance will cause the company to suffer losses, or it can even experience bankruptcy and liquidation. Until now, many rural banks in Indonesia are experiencing liquidation, so it is necessary to find a solution to improve the performance of rural bank employees in Indonesia so that liquidation can be avoided. This research aims to examine whether the big five personalities of employees and employee motivation can affect job performance. Data were collected from 50 employees of a rural bank X, in Central Java. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The findings of this study are that the big five personality does not have a significant effect, while employee motivation has a significant effect. However, simultaneously these two variables can affect job performance.

Efect of Personality on Job Performance of Employees: Empirical Evidence from Banking Sector of Pakistan

2 Abstract: After globalization and privatization phase of banking sector of Pakistan, culture of banks have been transformed into performance based culture so it is highly important for the HRM department of banking sector to hire those employees who can perform at their full potential. This study is investigating that how the personality affects the job performance of employees so that through their personality analysis best performing workforce could be hired for banking sector of Pakistan. Results of the research confirm the hypothesis that personality is a good predictor of performance. Extraversion, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness and Openness to Experience has positive and significant effect on Job Performance of employees while neuroticism has negative effect on task and contextual performance of Employees.

PERSONALITY AS A PREDICTOR OF JOB SATISFACTION AMONG THE EMPLOYEES OF AN NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANISATION

Background: The study predicts the relationship between Florence Littauer's personality and job satisfaction of the ICWO employees who are productive to the organization. Design: In the cross sectional design, level of Florence Littauer's personality and job satisfaction, descriptive analysispercent, mean, SD, inferential analysis-chi-square and predictive analysis-regression analysis were employed to measure the association of job satisfaction with demographic variables and the relationship between the personality and job satisfaction of the employees. Sample: Thirty employees working in an NGO, named Indian community welfare organization (ICWO) were selected for this study. Measures: Florence Littauer's personality test and Job satisfaction rating scale were administered to the employees and demographic variables such as age, marital status, etc. were also collected from the employees. Main Findings: Results showed that there is a significant association of job satisfaction with demographic variables such as age and experience. It was observed that there is a significant relationship between the strengths of the personality types and job satisfaction. It was also observed that there is a significant relationship between total Florence Littauer's personality types and job satisfaction. But weakness of the personality types does not have significant relationship. Conclusion: There is a significant association of job satisfaction with demographic variables-age and experience. The employees have different levels in over all Florence Littauer's personalities and job satisfaction. The study endorses that if the employees have more strengths in the personality; their job satisfaction is also high. The combination of the strengths and the weakness in the personality predicts high job satisfaction. The findings will help for the organizational development of the NGO.
