Most soybean farming in Indonesia is still performed conventionally. Farmers are less interested in cultivating soybeans because the production yields are relatively small. This research aims to determine the factors influencing production, production inefficiency of soybean, and the technical efficiency (TE) and economic efficiency (EE) level of soybean farming. Primary data were collected using a survey method of soybean farmers in paddy field areas in the Tabanan Regency of Bali Province, Indonesia. Data were analyzed using the stochastic frontier approach using the Frontier 4.1 analysis tool. Factors that positively affected the increasing soybean production were land area, urea and NPK fertilizers, and soybean seeds. The factor positively affecting soybean production inefficiency was a farming experience. The average TE value was 0.77, implying that soybean farming in the study area was efficient. However, the EE value below 0.70 implied that soybean farming was inefficient. Ba...
Productivity of Soybean on Different Agroecosystems
This study aims to see the growth and productivity of soybeans in different agroecosystems. The study was conducted on paddy field located in Bumi Setia village, Seputih Mataram sub-district, Central Lampung district, and on dryland located in Mandah village, Natar sub-district, South Lampung district, Lampung Province, Indonesia, from April to July 2015. Soybean varieties grown at each location were Grobogan varieties. The variables observed were crop emergence, plant height at harvest, number of plant harvested, number of pods per plant, empty pods, weight of 100 grains, pod pests and productivity. Data were analyzed by t test. The results showed that soybean productivity in dryland was 64.25% lower than productivity in paddy fields. The low yield of soybean varieties of Grobogan in dryland was caused due to drought factor when forming and filling pods. This can be seen from the decrease of weight of 100 grains of soybean seed in dryland up to 51.82% than in paddy field. The statu...
Technical Efficency Of Soybean In Pandeglang Regency
Agro Ekonomi
Pandeglang district is the largest soybean producer region in Banten province. Since the last four years, Pandeglang Regency has decreased land area and production. However, the amount of soybean productivity has increased. The ability of farmers to manage and allocate various inputs used in soybean farming affects the production and productivity of soybean and can give an idea of the level of efficiency achieved by farmers. So it is necessary to research whether the application or use of inputs in the process of soybean production has been at technically efficient level or not. Based on these conditions, in this study aims to: know the level of technical efficiency in soybean farming in Pandeglang regency. The basic method used in this research is descriptive method and the location of research is determined intentionally or purposive sampling. Sample selection for soybean farmer respondents was done by simple random sampling method of 77 soybean farmers. The result of the research...
Technical Efficiency of Soybeans Commodity
KINERJA, 2017
This research aims to find out the description of soybean farming in Grobogan Regency, the efficiency of technical, price, and economy on soybean systems. Grobogan Regency is a major soybean producer in Central Java and Indonesia. Based on the research result, it reveals that soybean farming in Grobogan has still not been efficient yet in technic, price, and economy. It means that farmers have not been able to optimize the inputs to obtain the maximum output. This inefficiency condition occurs because the farmers are considered to use the production factors excessively. Besides damaging the nature, the use of excessive production factors also leads to increasing production costs but without maximal results. Therefore, it requires a series of attempts to give knowledge to the farmers in order to reach efficient conditions by hoping that potential to maximized profitKeywords: Efficiency, Soybean, Grobogan
Present Status and Future Perspectives of Soybean Production in Indonesia
2011
Introduction Soybean is the third most important food crop in Indonesia after rice and corn. Soybean has an important role and strategic position in the cropping system, and as food crop to improve nutrition for the community because of its high protein content. The demand for soybean has increased along with the growth of population and food industry such as fermented soybean (tempe), soybean milk, tauco, and snacks. Soybean consumption per capita in 1998 was 8.13 kg and increased to 8.97 kg in 2004. This shows the need to increase soybean production. Statistical data from FAO shows that from the period of 1990-1995, the harvested area of soybean increased from 1.33 million ha in 1990 to 1.48 million ha in 1995, an average increase of 2% annually. Since 1995, the harvested area declined from around 1.48 million ha to 0.83 million ha in 2000, or about 11% per year. In the period of 20002004, the total harvesting area is still declining by about 9.70% per year. In the last 15 years (...
Productivity Evaluation of Five Soybean Cultivars in different Locations in Tocantins State
Soybean (Glycine Max) is characterized as an oleaginous plant, belonging to the Fabaceae family. Considered one of the main cultivars produced in Brazil, soybean has a high protein content for human and animal nutrition. It is a product widely used as biofuel and cooking oil, in addition to having a very important economic value for the economy in Brazil. in addition to having a very important economic value for the economy in Brazil. As main results obtained, it was noticed that the cultivars BMX Domínio IPRO, BMX Olimpo IPRO and SOY Muralha IPRO presented better performance in relation to their cultivation in the cerrado region of Tocantins, in the cities of Santa Rosa, Caseara and Aparecida do Rio Negro. The main objective of this article was to evaluate the productivity of five soybean cultivars (BMX Domínio IPRO, BMX Extrema IPRO, BMX Olimpo IPRO, DM 82I78RSF IPRO and Soy Muralha IPRO), in the cities of Santa Rosa, Caseara, Cariri do Tocantins, Campos Lindos and Aparecida do Rio Negro. The method used in the research was based on quali-quantitative, supported by bibliographical and exploratory research.
