The Life Skills of Male and Female Post-Graduate Students of Kuvempu University (original) (raw)

Life skills are the abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. The World Health Organisation has recommended ten core life skills needed for individuals which come under generic life skill category. They are self-aware, empathy, critical thinking, creative thinking, decision making, problem Solving, effective communication, interpersonal relationship, coping with stress and coping with emotions. The study conducted to measure and analyse the level of life skills among male and female post-graduate Students of Kuvempu University. And also to study the correlation between the different life skills of Kuvempu University post-graduate students. For this study descriptive survey method was used by adopting the simple random sampling technique to select the sample of 200 post-graduate students from different departments of Kuvempu University, Karnataka state, India. The study found that female post-graduate students have life skills at high level when compared to male students. There exists significant relationships among different life skills and The study also validated the Life skills model developed by Jagannath.K.Dange.
