The importance of English in communication and the globalized world as well as the demands of the job market, which is under the influence of modernization, leads people, in general, to become interested in learning it. It is understood that in schools it is necessary consider these expectations and the benefits in order to learn more about how to include cultural aspects in the English classrooms. Therefore, it is understood that teaching English is more than teaching rules and grammatical structures, it is also present the other side of the language, which means show the students the importance and the meaning of being bilingual but also bicultural. This work consists of a bibliographical research that intends to arise discussions around the topics pointed above expecting that the teachers (in or pre-service) can think about their pedagogical practices. RESUMO: A importância da língua inglesa na comunicação e no mundo globalizado, bem como as exigências do mercado de trabalho, que está sob a influência da modernização, leva as pessoas, em geral, a se tornarem interessados em aprendê-la. Entende-se que nas escolas é necessário considerar essas expectativas e esses benefícios, a fim de aprender mais sobre como incluir os aspectos culturais nas salas de aula de Língua Inglesa. Portanto, entende-se que o ensino de Língua Inglesa é mais do que regras e estruturas gramaticais, ensinar é também apresentar o outro lado da língua, o que significa mostrar aos estudantes a importância e o significado de ser bilíngue, mas também bicultural. Este trabalho consiste em uma pesquisa bibliográfica que pretende levantar discussões em torno dos temas apontados acima, esperando que os professores (em serviço ou em pré-serviço) possam refletir sobre suas práticas pedagógicas.
The current study examines the literature linked with the significance of culture in learning a second language .In the last few decades there has been considerable research on the role culture plays in language education. It is not possible to divorce cultural phenomenon from language instruction in modern times. The basic thesis of the study is that successful communication is not just about language ability but about cultural understanding as well. Thus, Language teaching has to focus not just on improving and enhancing communicative competence but cultural competence also has to be inculcated among the learners. The teaching of culture has the potential to create compassion and reverence among the learners toward diverse customs of the world. The integration of culture in language learning can promote cultural insightfulness and a broader outlook. Introduction When it comes to learning a second language, culture appears as a neglected aspect both in curriculum and pedagogy. Learners enter the Second Language class room with their own distinctive culture and it is important for them to get acquainted and even to acquire the culture of the second language to succeed at the new language. Since culture is embedded in the very language we speak, second language learning is connected with cultural acquisition at the very core.
The thesis is concerned with the contribution and incorporation of the teaching of culture into the foreign language classroom. More specifically, some consideration will be given to the why and how of teaching culture. It will be demonstrated that teaching a foreign language is not tantamount to giving a homily on syntactic structures or learning new vocabulary and expressions, but mainly incorporates, or should incorporate, some cultural elements, which are intertwined with language itself. Furthermore, an attempt will be made to incorporate culture into the classroom by means of considering some techniques and methods currently used. The main premise of the paper is that effective communication is more than a matter of language proficiency and that, apart from enhancing and enriching communicative competence, cultural competence can also lead to empathy and respect toward different cultures as well as promote objectivity and cultural perspicacity.

The Role of Culture in Foreign Language Acquisition
Language is a basic tool for communication. It expresses feelings, emotions, needs, thoughts, etc. Culture is the actual life of a particular group of people. This research aims at defining language and culture, and it examines the relationship between them as well as the important role that culture plays in teaching and learning English as a foreign language in Libya. This study is made up of two parts; theoretical and practical. The study of culture plays a very important role when it comes to teaching or learning a foreign language since words and phrases of that language, such as English, refer to internal meanings to its culture, creating a reality and a well defined semantic relationship that the learner must understand. Language and culture have at least three important components: 1) Language learning offers learners the opportunity to understand the relationship between language and other cultural phenomena. 2) Language learning allows a comparison between the foreign language and the mother tongue and highlights similarities as well as differences between the two. 3) The learning of the foreign culture passes by the knowledge of one’s own culture and takes into account its linguistic dimensions. In this work, we will try to show that these three components are complementary and interdependent, and must evolve in parallel in the overall educational process. The objectives should be clear so as to make learners appreciate similarities and differences between their own culture and the communities where the target language is spoken. This will, therefore, help them identify with the experience and the perspective of native speakers of that language, and then use this skill to develop a more objective view of their own culture and their way of thinking. Transfer, failures and the routines we leam are ofen teaching-induced, therefore un analysis of tertbookr for teaching English and how they deal with these issues would be ureful; here we just present a general and tentaiive review.
