The development of information technology today, makes it easier for perpetrators of computer crime, by abusing technology to support its activities, where their activities significantly disrupt someone's privacy. In this paper the insertion of text messages with the least significant bit method. Therefore the administrator needs a system or application that is safe so that it can make it difficult for computer criminals to carry out their activities, and help technology users regarding securing the accessed data bit, which is expected to increase the security of a secret text message. To increase the security of the data to be stored, the data stored is embedded in other media. Least Significant Bit is one method that can be used to hide confidential data on images or media. With this method, the confidentiality of information will be more secure.

Implementation of LSB Steganography and Its Evaluation for Various Bits

2006 1st International Conference on Digital Information Management, 2007

Steganography is derived from the Greek word steganos which literally means "Covered" and graphy means "Writing", i.e. covered writing. Steganography refers to the science of "invisible" communication. For hiding secret information in various file formats, there exists a large variety of steganographic techniques some are more complex than others and all of them have respective strong and weak points. The Least Significant Bit (LSB) embedding technique suggests that data can be hidden in the least significant bits of the cover image and the human eye would be unable to notice the hidden image in the cover file. This technique can be used for hiding images in 24-Bit, 8-Bit, Gray scale format. This paper explains the LSB Embedding technique and Presents the evaluation for various file formats.

Steganography for Data Embedding & Extraction using LSB Technique

2016

Security is the main concern in today’s world due to the rapid growth of information technology. In this research work, the steganographic is the method or process in which the useful information or data, concealing into another form such as image, text, audio and video. The main concern in this work is to provide the confidentiality, availability, integrity and authenticity of information. In a steganographic technique that embeds concealment of information with unremarkable cover media so the third party and hackers do not provoke it. For digital image steganographic many applications of decryption, compression, encryption and embedding methods are used. Noise and quality of the images are reduced or change due to compression. The LSB (Least Significant Bit) insertion technique is used to sustain noise in the images. The parameters which are evaluated such as PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) and MSE (Mean Square Error) of the proposed embedding system with respect to tradition te...

LSB Based Image Steganography for Information Security System

International Journal of Trend in Scientific Research and Development, 2018

Information hiding in a cover file is one of the most modernized and effective ways for transferring secret message from sender to receiver over the communication channel. There are many steganographic techniques for hiding secret message in image, text, audio, video and so on. Image Steganography is also one of the common methods used for hiding the information in the cover image. In this research work, the secret message is hidden in a cover image file using image steganography. LSB is very efficient algorithm used to embed the information in a cover file. The LSB based image steganography with various file sizes is analyzed and illustrated their results. Bitmap (*.bmp) image is used as a cover image file to implement the proposed system. The detail Least Significant Bit (LSB) based image steganography is introduced. In this paper, the new embedding algorithm and extracting algorithm are presented. While embedding the secret message in a cover image file, the starting embedded pixel is chosen according to public shared key between sender and receiver. The original cover image and embedded image with secret message are analyzed with PSNR values and SNR values to achieve security. The resulting embedded image shows the acceptable PSNR and SNR values while comparing with the original cover image. The proposed system can help the information exchanging system over communication media.

Implementasi Steganografi Untuk Menyisipkan Pesan Teks Pada Media Gambar Dengan Metode End of File

Jurnal Komputasi, 2016

Security and confidentiality of data transmission are two important aspects in the era of openness to data access and information. One way to secure the data transmission is using steganography. In this research, the method used is End Of File (EOF) and used image as the medium. The message is hidden by inserting it in the end of the line image file. The media for hiding the message is in the form of .jpg and the output is in the form of .png. Inputting message is done manually. Testing have been conducted on 5 types of images with different resolutions with a number of different messages characters which are 10, 100, and 1000 characters. The results show that the method of End Of File (EOF) successfully used to hide message in the media image and to take back the message that has been inserted. The image size and the number of characters used affects the processing time for embedding and extracting. Cropping, contrasting, and brightness on stego image are conducted to analyze the resilience of the message inserted. The results show that the stego image manipulations are sensitive or resistant to the manipulation that makes the message becomes corrupted and are not recommended in manipulating stego image.

A Development of Least Significant Bit Steganography Technique

Iraqi Journal of Computers, Communication and Control & System Engineering (IJCCCE), 2020

Recently, the world has been interested in transferring data between different devices. The transmission of data must be encrypted so that the intended receiver can only read and process a secret message. Hence, the security of information has become more important than earlier. This paper proposes the least significant bit Steganography method to hide a secret message inside an image cover via using dynamic stego-key. To check the effectiveness of the proposed method, many factors are used for evaluation and compared with another method. The results illustrate more robustness at steganography since stego-key depends on the cover image to hide a secret message.

Analysis of Different Types of Steganography

Modern era of digital communication raise many challenges in secrecy of data when it is transferred over the network. The data to be transferred over the network can be grabbed by third party on the way. Steganography is a method to hide secret data from third party. The secret data is embedded in some cover media in such a way that no one else is aware of it. Different cover media are available such as text files, image files, audio and video files etc. images are widely used as cover media. The secret data is embedded using various techniques available such as Least Significant Bit (LSB) insertion, Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) etc. But each of these techniques has its own strengths and weaknesses. This paper analyses different types of steganography and the techniques used to achieve those types of steganography.

Project Report on Data Security through Steganography by using LSB Replacement Algorithm

Spyro Infosys, 2017

The rapid development of data transfer through internet made it easier to send the data accurate and faster to the destination. There are many transmission media to transfer the data to destination like e-mails; at the same time, it is may be easier to modify and misuse the valuable information through hacking. So, in order to transfer the data securely to the destination without any modifications, there are many approaches like cryptography and steganography. Steganography is the process of hiding one file inside another such that others can neither identify the meaning of the embedded object, nor even recognize its existence. Current trends favor using digital image files as the cover file to hide another digital file that contains the secret message or information. This paper presents to provide the transfer of secret data embedded into master file to obtain new image, which is practically indistinguishable from the original image, so that other than the indeed user, cannot detect the presence of the secrete data sent. Here we use the Least Significant Bit (LSB) algorithm. Keywords: Steganography, Steganalysis, Information Security
