Women’s Entrepreneurship: Selected Aspects

In a situation where only one in three companies in the world is founded and run by women, there is a need to look for determinants, as well as for ways of solving specific problems. The aim of the article is to define the characteristics of female entrepreneurship and its role in creating and developing enterprises, in juxtaposition with male entrepreneurship. The article presents the results of the authors’ own research on selected problems of female entrepreneurship in Poland. They are based on surveys conducted among 200 people: female and male university students and identify the main problems of female entrepreneurship.

The present paper aims an incursion in the concern for researches in the field of feminine entrepreneurship -as a research theme, the study directions of the feminine entrepreneurship, on the basis of the special literature in the field. The applicative part of the paper refers to the research taken in the field of feminine entrepreneurship in Romania, through the project AntrES, in the area of the initiation way of business by entrepreneur women investigated and aligns aspects regarding the research methodology, the study of the way of initiating a business, the length with the age of manager women, the occupational situation at the moment of business initiation and their previous experience.

Elements that contribute to boost female entrepreneurship: A prospective analysis

Abstract This paper aims to identify what environmental modulators elements favor and contribute to enhance female entrepreneurship from a gender perspective. The qualitative study draws on 10 interviews in depth after being tested on their contents, from a relational perspective, allow a set of conclusions and recommendations that contribute to the empowerment of women entrepreneurs figure. The results highlight the importance of social support and comprehensive training in creating a culture that promotes and makes visible the role of women entrepreneurs. Resumen Este trabajo tiene como propósito identificar qué elementos moduladores del entorno favorecerían y contribuirían a potenciar la capacidad empresarial femenina desde una perspectiva de género. El estudio cualitativo toma como referencia 10 entrevistas en profundidad que, tras ser analizadas en sus contenidos, desde una perspectiva relacional, permitirán establecer un conjunto de conclusiones y recomendaciones que contribuyan a un empoderamiento de la figura de la mujer emprendedora. Los resultados destacan la importancia del apoyo social y la formación integral en la creación de una cultura que promueva y visibilice el papel de la mujer emprendedora.

Importance of Female Entrepreneurship

Behind the most significant problems of the world-poverty and starvation, wars, environmental pollution, and climatic change, there are goals characteristic of patriarchal society: the extension of power, the acquisition of resources even using violence. One of the main tools of acquiring economic and political advantages is to maintain the subjection of women. Due to their biology, they are exposed to harassment and violence in times of peace and war alike. Their core necessity is their own security and the safety of their children, in order to achieve that, they endeavour to develop a behaviour, an appearance, a life path, a way of life supported by the patriarchate-especially if they have no pecuniary room for maneuver. The investment of women with economic power, their entrepreneurship activity strengthen their autonomy and influence in the personal and economic scope, moreover, even taken in the political sense, and, at the same time, the prevailing of values that go beyond the patriarchal set of values: the welfare of children, the elderly, the sick and other persons exposed, preserving environment and safety. Goal of the paper is to raise awareness as to the importance of female entrepreneurship, the impediments lying ahead of their progress, to set forth the conditions of their development.

Promotion of the Entrepreneurship in the Context of Female Employees and Female Entrepreneurs

Purpose-to examine the characteristics of female employees and female entrepreneurs in the context of women entrepreneurship, analyze, what factors encourage and promote women entrepreneurship and give recommendations on the improvement of public policy for the promotion of women entrepreneurship. Design/methodology/approach-there had been used scientific literature deduction (drawing conclusions from the available information), analysis (obtained data analyzed separately), analogy (comparison of data with each other), generalization (the main features complex generalization), induction (from individual elements went to a general conclusion), comparison methods. Quantitative research method had been applied by questioning female employees and female entrepreneurs in various cities of Lithuania. Research was carried out using questionnaire, which was filled by 258 female employees and female entrepreneurs. Findings-after analyzing the theoretical aspects of female employees and female entrepreneurs in the context of women entrepreneurship, there were introduced the factors, that encourage and promote women entrepreneurship. As the results of qualitative research showed, those factors differ between female employees and female entrepreneurs. Research limitations/implications-the research is limited to questioning female employees and female entrepreneurs in Lithuania, nevertheless it is sufficient for satisfying the purpose of the research and producing the recommendations on the improvement of public policy for the promotion of women entrepreneurship. Practical implications-women entrepreneurship is a new area for scientific research. The differences between female employees and female entrepreneurs in the context of the factors, that encourage and promote women entrepreneurship are not analyzed. Quantitative research of Lithuanian female employees and female entrepreneurs and recommendations on the improvement of public policy for the promotion of women entrepreneurship reflect the practical implications. Originality/Value-this research suggests instrument recommendations for facilitating the promotion of women entrepreneurship through public policy.

Explanatory factors of female entrepreneurship and limiting elements

Abstract Researches on entrepreneurship from a gender perspective reveal significant differences not only between the levels of participation of men and women in business, but also between the orientations, motives and business opportunities for both. Based on this fact, the following investigation is performed, whose objective is twofold: firstly, to know what are the aspects that influence the entrepreneurship of women and secondly, to identify what factors determine and/or difficult the creation and development of business that they undertake. To achieve both, it is reviewed, first, the literature on this subject and, second, are exposed the main results of the qualitative analysis with Atlas.ti from interviews with a group of Spanish entrepreneurs. Resumen Las investigaciones sobre emprendimiento femenino desde la perspectiva del género revelan diferencias significativas, no solo entre los niveles de participación de hombres y mujeres en la actividad empresarial, sino también entre las orientaciones, motivaciones y oportunidades empresariales de ambos. En función de este hecho se plantea el siguiente trabajo de investigación, cuyo objetivo es doble: por una parte, conocer cuáles son los aspectos que influyen en la iniciativa empresarial de la mujer y, por otra, identificar qué factores condicionan y dificultan la creación y el desarrollo de los negocios que estas emprenden. Para la consecución de ambos se revisa, primero, la literatura especializada sobre esta temática y, a continuación, se exponen los resultados más destacados del análisis cualitativo realizado con el programa informático Atlas.ti a partir de entrevistas a un grupo de emprendedores españoles.

Moderators elements of entrepreneurship. Gender differences

Abstract This article focuses on reviewing, through a competency analysis, the factors that favor or limit female entrepreneurship. Elements that affect both individually, as that influence from the environment are considered. The results show that relational capital, ideology, education, social class and age are important variables that may stimulate or restrain entrepreneurship in women entrepreneurs. As for the contextual factors of note are financing, the geographic scope, taxation and economic sector. Resumen Este artículo se ocupa de revisar, mediante un análisis competencial, los factores que favorecen o limitan la capacidad empresarial femenina, ya sean elementos que afectan individualmente o que condicionan desde el entorno. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que el capital relacional, la ideología, la formación, la clase social y la edad son variables importantes que pueden estimular o frenar la capacidad empresarial en las mujeres emprendedoras. En cuanto a los factores contextuales, destacan la financiación, el ámbito geográfico, la fiscalidad y el sector económico.

Abilities and skills as factors explaining the differences in women entrepreneurship

This study takes part of the project Women and entrepreneurship from a competence per- spective and aims to investigate the role of skills and abilities in explaining the women entrepreneurship. In this sense, it works on the idea that women entrepreneurs have specific competences, understood as the sum of skills and abilities, that characterize and determine the type of female entrepreneurship (typology, sector, size, innovation, creativity). Method- ologically, it worked from a qualitative approach, supported by conducting semi-structured interviews of men and women from different socio-economic and business profiles. From an inductive and interpretive discursive analysis, it can be concluded that businessmen and businesswomen agree to grant several skills and abilities to women entrepreneurs, although there are significant differences between the perceptions of women and men, subsisting some gender stereotypes in defining the profile of women entrepreneurs.

Women's Entrepreneurship and Their Organization in the Context of Gender Factor: A Case Study in the Konya City

Scientific and technological advancements in our contemporary world have substantially altered dynamics of competition in parallel to the production systems. These changes have brought new dimensions to the entrepreneurship as well as business administration fields. The differences in social responsibilities based on gender have been part of people's life from its beginning to the end. The entrepreneurship understanding which has presented great developments in all over the world since 1980s has been interested in by women as much as men recently. In our present era in which women's participation into the business life accelerated and accordingly their rate within the total labor is continuously rising, economic and social development process and fast paced advancements in science and technology have evolved women's role in society and turned them into primary players in the business life. Organization is one of the essentials of living social life based on various reasons. In terms of social context, organizations in the forms of sociological, civil or labor unions have always been part of people's life. In the aspect of entrepreneurship, movement of entrepreneurs within an organization can be viewed the result of their way of business and requirement of competition and our contemporary world. The purpose of this study is present that women who naturally own different perspective in many areas than men add different taste and success into the business life through their equalizer factors in both social relationships and private life; and to draw women entrepreneurs' general profiles and their organization in the context of Konya City case.
