GLOBAL CHALLENGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION: A REVIEW Sani, I

Environmental pollution is a global challenge that influences human health. However, in developing countries and in countries in transition, environmental pollution levels are still at relatively high levels, though the levels have been gradually decreasing or have remained stable during rapid economic development.. This reviewprovides the insight view about the effects and remedies of environmental pollution in the perspective of air pollution, water and land/soil waste pollution on human by diseases and problems, animals and trees/ plants.

Pollution and its Impact on Sustainable Development

Pollution and its direct and indirect negative effects on humans, and animals is one of the most important issues that researchers have been studying and searching for radical solutions. Therefore, the research sheds light on the definition of pollution, its causes and environmental effects, its most important types, especially radioactive, industrial and household waste, and their levels of risk. The research focuses on the issue of air pollution resulting from fumes, smoke, and gases emitted from cars, factories, volcanic eruptions, and others. It also absorbs the problem of soil and water pollution due to the failure to properly treat factory, household and other waste, and the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides harmful to water, air and soil. The research addresses the topic of noise pollution, and its causes by limiting loud noises from radio, television, cars, airplanes, music, etc.

Environmental Pollution: A Great Hazard in The Survival of Man

CENTRAL ASIAN JOURNAL OF MEDICAL AND NATURAL SCIENCE, 2022

Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change. Pollution can take the form of any substance (solid, liquid, or gas) or energy (such as radioactivity, heat, sound, or light). Pollutants, the components of pollution, can be either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring contaminants. Although environmental pollution can be caused by natural events, the word pollution generally implies that the contaminants have an anthropogenic source – that is, a source created by human activities. Pollution is often classed as point source or nonpoint source pollution. In 2015, pollution killed nine million people worldwide (one in six deaths). This remained unchanged in 2019, with little real progress against pollution being identifiable. Air pollution accounted for ¾ of these earlier deaths.Major forms of pollution include air pollution, light pollution, litter, noise pollution, plastic pollution, soil contamination, radioactive contamination, thermal pollution, visual pollution, and water pollution.

Atmospheric Pollution and Climate Change

The whole world is on the terrifying cross-roads of global environmental threat. Last several years, particularly the last two years dominated the headlines about the serious threat climate change posed to the world. The more frequent severe weather conditions which result from climate change or global warming in the form of storms, tornadoes, tsunamis, floods, droughts, rising sea level and such other catastrophes have raised the economic cost of the natural disasters. The result, it appears, is beyond our control and, perhaps, there is no immediate answer to it.

Environmental Pollution Effects on Living Beings

The present paper shows that Environmental Pollution occurs when pollutants contaminate the surroundings; which brings about changes that affect our normal lifestyles adversely. Pollutants are the key elements or components of pollution which are generally waste materials of different forms. Pollution disturbs our ecosystem and the balance in the environment. With modernization and development in our lives pollution has reached its peak; giving rise to global warming and human illness.

Air Pollution: A New Approach on Global Warming

In a move to curb pollution from the coal- based power sector. The Union Ministry of Environment ,Forest and Climate change(MOEF&CC) had announced new emission limits for power stations ,both existing and upcoming. The enhanced pace of developmental activities after industrial revolution i.e. 18th century and rapid urbanization have resulted in stress on natural resources and quality of life. Pollution is now a common place term that our ears are attuned to. We hear about the various forms of pollution and read about it through the mass media. Air pollution is one such form that refers to the contamination of the air, irrespective of indoors or outside. A physical, biological or chemical alteration to the air in the atmosphere can be termed as pollution. Thus air pollutants are substances emitted into the air from an anthropogenic, biogenic, or geogenic source, that is either not part of natural atmosphere or is present in higher concentrations than the natural atmosphere, and may cause a short term or long term adverse effect. It occurs when any harmful gases, dust, smoke enters into the atmosphere and makes it difficult for plants, animals and humans to survive as the air becomes dirty. A WHO report released in May 2014 showed that most of Indian cities are death traps due to very high air pollution levels. The urban air quality database of WHO, covering 1600 cities across 91 countries showed that Indian cities are among those with highest levels of (Particulate Matter) PM 10 and PM 2.5 and less. Black carbon is also a kind of particulate matter, responsible for global warming.

AIR POLLUTION AND ITS EFFECTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT: AN OVERVIEW AIR POLLUTION AND ITS EFFECTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT: AN OVERVIEW

Air Pollution is the contamination of clean air through the introduction of foreign particles into the atmosphere by human or natural activities which affect the quality of the air. Its detriments to health have been discussed. Various air pollutants such as sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxides nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons as well as their sources, and the way they are emitted into the atmosphere have also been outlined in this paper. Similarly, the effects of air pollution on environment have been put forward. Furthermore, ways on how to curtail the amount of pollutions emitted into the atmosphere have also been suggested.

Environmental Pollution: Causes and Prevention

Developmental activities such as construction, transportation and manufacturing not only deplete the natural resources but also produce large amount of wastes that leads to pollution of air, water, soil, and oceans, global warming and acid rains. Untreated or improperly treated waste is a major cause of pollution of rivers and environmental degradation causing ill health and loss of crop productivity. In this research paper a study is undertaken about the major causes of pollution, their effects on our environment and the various measures that can be taken to control such pollutions

Environmental pollution "causes -typeseffects"

The importance of the environmental pollution lies in its great impact on human life and the surrounding environment. In addition to its disastrous results that extend for many years, it contributes to crystallize the life of man, animal, and plant. The research discusses the concept of environmental pollution, and all the undesirable changes that occur in the environment. It sheds light on the causes of pollution, especially radiation and chemical types result from cars, fumes, gases, smoke and industrial wastes, which included liquid, solid wastes and others. It emphasizes air pollution, its causes, sources, and effects on humans, animals, plants, and the weather. It has a major role in making a foremost change in temperatures degree. Conceivably, the waste is extremely dangerous, and the smoke, fumes, toxins and unpleasant odors of factories and cars cause a fuel combustion with all its preventive measures and procedures. There is no doubt that the expansion of transportation means will negatively affect the percentage of environmental pollution. The research debates the most important factors and causes of water pollution due to throwing liquid and solid wastes into rivers and lakes. The causes of soil and plant pollution can be linked to the use of large quantities of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, which affect the quality of agricultural crops and reduces their fertility. They contribute to the loss of their beneficial organic materials, which harmfully disturbs the life of both humans and animals.
