From Communicative Strategies to Cognitive Modelling (original) (raw)

This paper examines the cognitive capabilities that a robot should possess to effectively interact with humans, focusing on spatial instruction as a central domain. It discusses the necessity of designing robots based not only on AI principles but also on the mental models of users, by analyzing communicative strategies used in human-robot interactions. Through a series of experiments, the study identifies these strategies and highlights the adaptive nature of communication as users learn to adjust their instruction methods in response to robot feedback.
