Integration of Islam and Science in Islamic Education

HIKMATUNA: Journal for Integrative Islamic Studies

This article aims to discuss the paradigm of scientific integration between Islam and science. Integration, which has been based on scientific ideas, should have started with integration based on divine ideas. Therefore, the main focus of this paper is how the basic framework of thinking in the integration of Islam and science is based on the idea of divinity, its application in the world of education and the challenges that must be faced with the integration of Islam and science based on the idea of divinity. To answer these problems, the article was designed using the literature review method. Finally, this article sees that the basic idea of integrating science and science must be based on God. This idea is a concrete theoretical solution to immediately realize the integration of science between Islam and science which has long been echoed but is still difficult to implement. Integration that emphasizes the embodiment of divinity in terms of the praxis of knowle...

Development of Al-Quran Integrated Physics Practicum Manual in Accordance with the 2013 Curriculum to Develop Practical Skills, Scientific Attitudes, and Religious Attitudes for IT/MA High School Students

Sainstek : Jurnal Sains dan Teknologi

Based on questionnaire data distributed to 27 first-year students participating in the Basic Physics course at IAIN Batusangkar, the data obtained are: 1) 37% of students have never done physics practicum activities, 63% of students have done physics practicum activities, 2) 100% of students are not used to compiling reports on practicum activities, 3) 100% of students are not given a practice guide and 4) 93% of students, their physics learning is not associated with Islamic values, 7% of students' physics learning is associated with religion. Furthermore, interviews with 5 physics teachers from SMA/MA, it was found that: 1) there is no guidebook for physics practicum in accordance with the 2013 curriculum in their schools, 2) Physics learning in schools not integrated with the Alquran. This study aims to produce an integrated Al-Quran physics practicum manual in accordance with the 2013 curriculum for SMA/MA which is valid, practical, and effective. Based on the results of the...

Developing of Physics Modules Interrelation of Quran and Science in the Material of Vibration and Waves

Journal of Physics: Conference Series, 2020

This study aims to produce a physics module that is interrelated with the Quran and science in vibration and wave material that is valid, practical, and effective. The type of research is research and development using the ADDIE model. The subjects of the trial were 21 students in class VIII at one of the junior high schools in Banjarmasin. Data were obtained using module validation sheets, observations with lesson plan implementation sheets, and learning outcomes tests. Research with results that show modules in the valid category, the implementation of lesson plans in very practical categories, and student learning outcomes with effective categories. The conclusion is that the physics module of the interrelation of the Quran and science, in the material of vibration and waves, is appropriate to be used for learning in the classroom.

Development of Modules Containing Islamic Values in Inquiry-Based Basic Physics Practicum

THABIEA : JOURNAL OF NATURAL SCIENCE TEACHING

This study develops an inquiry-based practicum module which integrates Islamic values to increase students’ independent learning for basic physics. The main goal is that the developed module will be valid and interesting. Research and development using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) is the type of this study. While the instruments were a validation questionnaire and a student-attractiveness-response questionnaire. The questionnaires were intended for the product. The basic-physics-practicum module was validated by three experts who are a material expert with a final score (average score) of 3.8, a religious expert of 3.9, and a media expert of 3.5. The three validation results are included in the "Valid" criteria. About the response test, there were two tests, which are the small group test with an average acquisition of 3.27 and the field group test 3.30. The two response-test results are included in the "Very Interest...

Integrating Qur’anic worldview and natural science: a framework for Islamic secondary schools

2018

Islamic, modern and post-modern eras narrate how science and technology have borne impacts on humanity. Reacting against the challenges imposed by modern and post-modern tendencies, is the distinct global phenomenon of Islamic ―integrated education‖. But what constitutes as Islamically integrated science education? Analyses of various secondary school curricula, syllabi and textbooks of natural science implemented by a number of Islamic secondary schools that we visited in Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as in Brunei, Singapore, Southern Thailand, Mindanao and Ontario show very little integration if any. This article presents an integration framework for natural science, based on the Qur‘ānic notion of ―ūlū al-albāb‖ and Ghazālian discourse, especially on the qalb. Certain conventional aspects of natural science undergo holistic reposition, reinterpretation and reorientation from the Qur‘ānic worldview, whereby humanity's relationship with God, with itself and with the cosmos fo...

The Scientific Cues Study of “Zarrah” in Al-Qur’an as Knowledge Content on Modern Physics Learning Based on Tpack

‘Abqari Journal, 2020

This study aims to examine scientific cues in al-Qur’an related to Core Physics. This library research study is the result of a descriptive analysis of the Qur’an as primary data. While secondary data in the form of the book Modern Physics Schaum’s outlines, interpretation of al-Jami ‘li Ahkam al-Qur’an, interpretation of al-Qur’anul Madjid an-Nur, interpretation of al-Mishbah, Tafsir al-Jami’ al-Bayan at-Ta’wil Ayi al-Qur’an, Tafsir al-Qur’an al-Aisar and other relevant articles. The analytical method used is critical analysis with inductive thinking techniques. This study reports that the word وَالاَبْصَار in QS. as-Sajdah verse 9 and QS. az-Zalzalah verses 7-8 contain the meaning of optical devices (eye) humans have limitations to be able to observe an atom whose composition of particles is very small and the word ذَرّةٍ in QS. Az-Zalzalah verses 7-8 contextually modern physics is called a quark. The eye as an optical instrument still has limitations to see quarks, so it is neces...

Physics of Qur'An: Islamizing the Science and Its Contribution Towards Humanity

Religio Education, 2021

Physics is a fundamental science in the development of science and technology in the modern world. Physics studies the various forms of structure and character of natural objects. Thus, mastery of physics is one of the activities desired by Allah Swt. This article is made so that at least the Muslim community can realize the urgency of physics. In this study, we use the type/approach of research in the form of Library Research. The data that we obtain and process is data that comes from manuscripts or texts from similar previous studies. From this research, we conclude that the Qur'an is a way of life for all mankind. The Qur'an is like a miniature of the universe that contains all disciplines of science and is a means of solving all problems throughout human life. Besides that, physics has a very large and significant function and role in the existence of mankind. Also, the role of this physical science can ease the difficulties experienced by lightening the work of humans ...

Integrating Science with Religion, Education and Community Based on the Idea of A Malay Woman Physicist

This paper is about the idea of a Malay Muslim scholar on integrating science with religion, education and community. For this study, researchers have observed the ideas of a Malay woman thinker and the discussion that has contributed to the development of the knowledge. Prof Dr Khalijah Mohd Salleh was a scientist in physics. She was elected as an eminent figure for this study as she was a scientist who had played an important role in mobilizing an idea that is worth in creating the embodiment, correction and establishment of the facts that do not stray from the path of Islam, based on the Oneness of Allah, through what has been set in the Quran and the Hadith. She was one of those involved in developing Tawhidic Science idea. Science is universal and there is no separation between science and Islam. The contribution of Muslim scholars towards the establishment of Tauhidik Science is a reflection of their concerns which is significant in shaping human development, education and Muslim belief. In addition, it becomes a fort strong enough to prevent all forms of abuse against Islam towards the development of Malay civilization.
