RELIGACIÓN. REVISTA DE CIENCIAS SOCIALES Y HUMANIDADES, 2017

The purpose of this paper is to highlight the tensions in the historical discourses of writers such as Cicero, Salustio and Livy, in what refers to the social gender roles that delimited the position of women in public space. An area that the Roman ideology defined as an exclusively male domain, but that in practice included a set of collective actions carried out by women who produced a transgression of the discursive marks that conditioned them. This implies proposing an interpretive nuance with respect to the generic differentiation of spaces and incumbencies, enunciated by classical authors in terms of binary oppositions. In this sense, we will argue that the reaffirmation of traditional cultural patterns in the crisis of the republic allows us to see interstices in which alterations take place that question the model of representation of the relations between genders as a significant form of power.
