In this article entitled "Uso de la radio como estrategia interactiva para desarrollar la competencia comunicativa oral del idioma inglés, (speaking)" are outlined some experiences resulting from a research project carried out at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador Sede Ibarra, during the academic term 2016-2017, with students of eighth and fifth level of the Languages and Linguistic School. This research talks about the importance of the radio for the learners' English speaking skill strengthening. The radio has been used as an object of study, but has not been used as a didactic strategy so it is very innovative for the educational field to access to new teaching methodologies. The quantitative method was used; fieldwork was conducted in weekly sessions. The methodology used was mixed, since data were evaluated and descriptive. Results were gathered simultaneously to the significant learning linked to innovative and interesting methodological strategies for students like the radio.

The effective use of the language skills is not acquired naturally but learnt, and enhanced as a set of practices in formal instructional settings. This is what the Communication and Study Skills Radio Lecture Series on Radio Windy Bay 98.3 FM MHz seeks to do. The defining question is: how relevant is this free-on air broadcast to the teaching and learning experience of its target audience after over a decade of transmission? This appreciative inquiry or tracker study sought to analyse the listening habits of the target audience of the programme; examine perceptions of the listeners at the level of programme content, anchor styles, interactivity, placement, and duration; and explore suggestions for improvement to enhance performance. Improving Students’ Speaking Skill Using Radio Talk Show Programme

Media provide students and teachers with creative as well as practical ideas and enable them to meet various interests and needs. Hence, this study analysed the implementation of using media particularly radio programme to improve students’ speaking skill. This study employed action research and there were 42 students of senior high school involved in this study. The results indicate that the implementation of media (radio talk show programme) assists students to improve their speaking skill. It can be one of methods in teaching and learning process especially in speaking class; and the influence of media (radio talk show programme) could encourages and motivates students to pull out their best of communication skill particularly in using English.
FOSTERING SPEAKING CONFIDENCE BY MEANS OF PARTICIPATION IN A RADIO SHOW
This action research project was conducted to foster speaking confidence through the participation of 8 th graders from la Chucua School in cooperative learning-based strategies by means of the creation of an online radio show. The project theoretical support regards speaking confidence, based on the foundation of anxiety in language learning, the use of radio in schools for academic purposes and to improve the relationships that sometimes impede students to participate in oral activities because of their peers' reactions. The project also relates to the stages and elements of radio, and various cooperative learning strategies. Data collection instruments included a student survey, teacher's journals and students' artifacts, which were composed of the audio recordings of the radio show. A combination of Inductive Analysis, Grounded Theory and Trend Analysis was considered as the most appropriate research design analysis tools to conduct the data analysis. Results indicate that the research process was a positive experience to prompt students' speaking confidence through the use of technology, evidenced in the participation in each stage of the creation of a radio show, including planning, recording, editing and listening to their final product on the web, as well as an opportunity to support and improve the teacher's performance, becoming a facilitator for the students, in terms of giving a guidance that allowed them to make decisions, instead of imposing them. Students were encouraged to use technological tools like Audacity™, Winamp™ and ShoutCast™ as valuable academic resources for the production of a radio show. The implementation of these tools enabled the teacher to get in touch with new learning devices and strategies to foster learners' confidence.

Students’ Perceptions on the Use of Radio Drama to Develop Speaking Skills

Speaking confidently with correct oral communication skills in a target language is not an easy task for any second language learners. One of the ways to develop speaking skills is through radio drama activity. The present study examined students' perceptions of radio drama to develop speaking skills. Besides, the differences between male and female students were also explored. The participants of the study were fifty-five diploma engineering students taking the Integrated Language Skills course. In order to collect the necessary data, a set of questionnaires with two open-ended questions were distributed to the participants through Google Form link to the class WhatsApp groups. Descriptive statistics were conducted to measure the quantitative data and content analysis was used to analyse the qualitative data. The results show that students have positive perceptions regarding the implementation of radio drama activity to develop speaking skills. The students perceived radio drama as fun and effective, improved pronunciation, constructed better sentences, learned new vocabulary, gained confidence, and experienced speaking English with peers. Besides, both genders perceived radio drama developed creativity in speaking skills with female students having a stronger view than their male counterparts. It is suggested teachers consider utilizing radio drama activities in English language lessons.
The Effects Of Implementing Workshop On Radio Broadcasting Class Towards Students Speaking Ability
This research discuss about The Effects of Implementing Workshop on Radio Broadcasting Class Towards Students Speaking Ability. The purposes are to know whether there is improvement in student speaking ability while conducting Workshop on Radio Broadcasting. The participants of this research are English Department students of State Polytechnic of Padang who attend Workshop on Broadcasting course in academic period 2015-2016. The observation data shows that the students' articulation, intonation, and expression in delivering the radio program are become better because they trained to speak clearly and in various way. Meanwhile, the questionnaire data shows that there were 60% students agree that Workshop on Radio Broadcasting class is important to improve their speaking ability, 68% students agree that they can improve their grammar, 72% students agree that they can improve their vocabulary, 56% students agree that they can express their idea, and their articulation and speaking speed become better, 72% students agree that they can speak more fluent and their accuracy and 60% students agree that by practicing as a radio announcer, news reader and reporter, their self confident is improve. The average score for the students' accent was 2,96, means that they have " Foreign accent " requires concentrated listening, and mispronunciations lead to occasional misunderstanding and apparent errors in grammar or vocabulary. The average score for grammar was 3,08. For vocabulary, the average score was 3,04. For Fluency, the average score was 3,00. Finally, for comprehension, the average score was 3,16.
Podcasting as a tool to develop speaking skills in the foreign language classroom

It is essential for foreign language learners to have adequate opportunities for speaking in order to enhance the acquisition of oral communicative competence. Although research over the last few years has dealt with the potential of podcasting for the development of oral competencies, little has been done towards its application in the improvement of speaking skills or the correction of pronunciation. This article presents experiments with podcasts developed in French foreign language classes over the course of ten years. The results obtained relate to the following three aspects: firstly, selection and analysis of the available tools fostering greater oral activity and effective correction of pronunciation; secondly, the quantification of spoken language according to the actual duration of the podcasts, as well as preparation time estimated by the students; finally, the evaluation of spoken language using certain indicators of improvement of pronunciation.

The daily observation of class sessions has enabled me to recognize that students possess a feeling of self-distrust in oral activities. For this reason, I designed a study carried out with a group of twelve eighth graders. This article illustrates an action research project conducted to enhance students' confidence when speaking on an online radio show. The data were collected by using surveys applied to students, audio and video recordings and a teacher's journal. The data analysis procedures included a blend of inductive analysis, grounded theory and trend analysis. Results indicated that the research process prompted students' speaking confidence through the use of technology. The study was also an opportunity to improve the teacher's performance, and become a facilitator by steering a pedagogical intervention that allowed students to make decisions to overcome their lack of speaking confidence.
