Profile and Impact of Domestic Violence to Women’s Psychological Condition in Surakarta Residency

Background : Women abuse occurs in all countries. Women who are abused by their partners suffer from depression, anxiety and PTSD (Post Trauma Syndrom Disorder). All domestic violence done by husband phisically or psychologically causes damage on woman's health. Woman who experiences domestic violence have physical and psychological problem. Those problems include willing of suicide, mental pressure, and physical problems such as dizzy, painful, limp, and vagina problems. This violence also influences woman reproduction, increasing sexual transmitted disease. Objective : The aimed of the research was to know profile and psychologic condition : depression, anxiety and PTSD women violence abuse. Methods : This research was Discriptive analitic. The design of this research Cross Sectional Study. The population is women abuse in Surakarta. The sampling method was purposive sampling. The instrument used were Depression Hamilton Scale, Anxiety Hamilton Scale and PTSD Scale. The analysis of variable used were statistic descriptive univariate test. Result :Profile Respondent show :age is mostly 31 to 40 years which is 51,4 %. Respondent education majority reaching 45,7%. Occupation is majority 37,1% jobless,. The religion is all of them Islam. the socio economy of people is 37,1% intemediate class. The results indicated all women victim Doemstic violencn suffering depression, anxiety and PTSD. Result Statistic test show that psychologic condition women abuse woman depression : low depressed 31,4%, medium depressed 68,6%.

Relationship between domestic physical and psychological violence and

Violence on women is major problem of this world. In Pakistan, as the statistics show, More than 90% of the women are the victims of this curse. When we talk about violence, the first thing that comes into our minds is physically violence. Violence on women does not only refer to physical violence but also many other forms. Emotional abuse is a serious form and it can rum a women life completely. Unfortunately it is not considered as a form violence, in our society. The focus of this study was on the women victims of emotional abuse and the consequences of emotional abuse on them. A sample of 10 women victims was taken through convenience sampling from the psychiatric wards of two different hospitals of Lahore .A semi structured interview schedule was prepared to interview the cases/relatives or doctors. The sample included all married, unmarried, widow and divorced Women. Findings the reveal that emotional abuse prevails in all three classes of our society. It may include abusive language, isolation abandonment, rejection, neglect devoid of love and care etc. The Culprits of emotional abuse are mostly one’s own family members. Women are abuse regardless of their age and status. They go through minor depression while they are abused but when the level of tolerance is breached, they have serious mental illness. There is not hard and fast rule for what kind of mental disorder a women may have. It totally depends on the situation and mental health of the women Victim. According to this research mood disorders are seen more in the victim of emotional abuse.

Domestic violence and its relationship with depression, anxiety and quality of life: A hidden dilemma of Pakistani women

Objectives: To find out the relationship of domestic violence with depression, anxiety and quality of life in married women in hospitals of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Methods: This co-relational study was conducted in Rawalpindi Institute of Health Sciences from January 2019 to December 2019. All the females’ patients who were the victim of domestic violence were the population of the study. Consecutive non-probability sampling technique was used for selection of sampling from the target population. The inclusion criterion for this study was diagnosed case of domestic violence. DASS 21 (The Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale) and Quality of life (WHO) scales were administered to 116 patients. Results: The study’s key results were that domestic abuse has positive relationship with depression, anxiety, and stress. Risk Factors for Domestic Violence in Women and Predictors of Development of Mental Disorders in These Women

Introduction: Based on the hypothesis that women who exposed to physical violence had lower education and income levels than those who did not, and those who got married earlier and had marriage with unwanted people had higher psychiatric disorders, the aims of this study were to determine risk factors for domestic violence and predictors of psychiatric impairment in women exposed to domestic violence. Methods: We used random selection method and included 400 married women above 18 years of age living in Adiyaman province. Socio-demographic data and exposure to physical violence and sexual coercion for participants were evaluated by a structured questionnaire. Depression scores of the women were evaluated by Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and anxiety scores were evaluated by Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Suicidal ideas of the subjects were evaluated by 17 item Suicide Intent Scale and their suicide plans, attempts, thoughts, and risk of recurrence were evaluated by 4 item Suicidal Behavior Questionnaire. Results: 65,5% of the women (n=262) reported no violence, 19,3% (n=77) reported violence only from their spouses, 5,2% (n=21) reported violence from people other than spouse, and 10% (n=40) reported physical violence from both their spouses and other people. Logistic regression analysis showed that employment status of spouses, presence of medical/psychiatric illness in spouses, the acceptance of the view that 'Husbands can sometimes beat' by women and presence of psychiatric illness in women predicted domestic violence against these women from their spouses. Logistic regression analysis also revealed that education level, and presence of physical or sexual violence from their spouses predicted development of psychiatric disorders in women survivors of domestic violence. Conclusion: This study showed that opinion of women about domestic violence, presence of a psychiatric disorder in women, employment status of spouse, and presence of a medical/psychiatric illness in spouse predicted physical violence against these women. In addition, education level of women, and presence of domestic violence from their spouses predicted development of psychiatric disorder. Knowing the factors that trigger physical violence and related psychiatric impairments is really important for development of preventive and therapeutic interventions.

Association between Physical and Sexual Violence and Mental Health in Suburban Women of Zahedan: A Cross-sectional Study

IntrOductIOn Violence Against Women (VAW), also known as gender-based violence, is a global issue and considered as a major public health problem [1]. As physical, mental and even social consequences caused by it can endanger health of women, families and communities [2]. VAW is a gender-based violent behaviour which results in physical, sexual, mental harm or suffering to women. These behaviours have different forms such as the threats, coercion or absolute deprivation of free will and freedom, also they can occur in public or private places [3]. The most common type of VAW is Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), also referred to as domestic violence [4,5]. Statistics on the prevalence of IPV is different worldwide. Domestic violence prevalence is estimated to be 18-68% [6]. Globally, 15-71% of women experience physical or sexual violence [4]. In Iran, 66% of women have been subjected to violence at least once in the beginning of their marriage. Women in Bandar Abbas have been subjected to violence in their lifetime than women in other parts of Iran; however, IPV is more severe among women in Zahedan, as compared to other cities in Iran [7].

Domestic Violence on Women and its Implications on their Health

Violence against women is a severe violation of human rights and ranging from domestic and intimate partner violence to sexual harassment and assault. It is widely recognized as a serious human rights abuse. Violence has substantial consequences on women’s health. To evaluate the effects of domestic abuse and violence on the physical and mental health of women a study was conducted in district Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. Data were drawn from 222 women. Sampling was carried out using the multi-stage process of random sampling. Survey method was used for data collection and Statistical methods such as chi-square, correlation, linear and multiple regressions were used to analyze the data in this study. Psychological impacts of Intimate Partner Violence on women

Women are considered safe at home but many of us become intentionally unaware about the situation that Intimate Partner Violence is a harsh and unacceptable behavior that itself is exhibited by one's own loving partner, thus making the home surroundings unsafe for women. Among all sort of violence shown by intimate partner, Physical is relatively obvious but other kinds are common too. Reasons involved behind these types of behaviors are multifactorial ranging from inequality, patriarchy and dowry to disobedience, infertility and Husbands with borderline personalities. These reasons ultimately create big disasters in women's life physically, socially and mentally. Majority of the impacts exhibited in women's life are psychological. Thus, the paper aims to highlight some major impacts of Intimate partner violence on women specially on psychological wellbeing like Depression, Posttraumatic stress disorder and Suicide, with the support of relevant literature and author's witnessed case scenario. On the basis of literature review, recommendations provided includes prevention, support, marital counseling, women's education, better health facilities for women and many others. Intimate partner violence is very common and harmful. As women are more vulnerable so these circumstances impact them at a greater extent.

Exploring the Nexus of Domestic Violence: Impact on Married Women's Physical Health, Psychological Distress, and Magnitude of Abuse

Domestic violence is a common problem in Pakistan but due to stigma in surrounding it is not openly discussed. Current study determined the magnitude of domestic violence, physical health and psychological distress among females. Cross-sectional study was conducted in Sialkot among married females. Magnitude of domestic violence was considered as the determinant of physical health and psychological distress. Sample was comprised of 100 females from working and non-working background, selected through purposive sampling technique by random assignment. The variables were measured using three assessment tools composite abuse scale, Kessler's psychological distress scale and physical health questionnaire. Data was analyzed by the application of SPSS, correlation and regression was measured for the assessment of purposed assumptions. Among married females domestic violence is the determinant of physical health (r=.702**, p < 0.01) and psychological distress (R=-.340*, p < 0.01).increase in the magnitude of domestic violence leads to the deterioration of physical health and decreases psychological distress.

Domestic Violence and Its Effect on Women

Background: Domestic violence is a social phenomenon that has caught the attention of all and sundry in the recent times. The term domestic includes violence by an intimate partner wherever this violence takes place and by whatever forms. Violence against women constitutes any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women. This study sought to evaluate and examine the problem of domestic violence in general and specifically detail its effect on women in the Oforikrom Sub metro of the Ashanti region of Ghana Methods: A sampling population of 60 mostly of females and few males was used in conducting the research. In addition, key informants in the furniture industry were interviewed using a semi-structured interview guide. The questionnaires containing open and closed questions on domestic violence abuse, nature, its forms causes and remedial mechanisms were developed and administered. The questionnaires Vol. X No. X, Month 20XX 2 were either self-administered or through the face-to-face interview. The data was edited and analysed with the aid of SPSS software programme. Descriptive statistics was used in the analysis.
