The mythical narratives understood here as a set of discourses that lent intelligibility, coherence and often cohesion to ancient cultures are present in the curricula of the 6th year of elementary school. The main purpose of this paper is to unite the notion of historical consciousness and the mythical narratives in empirical research with the students of the 6th year of a public school in the Duque de Caxias county, Rio de Janeiro state. In this way, this paper envisages to present a set of results of a pedagogical experience, in creating a a universe of alterities, but also of possibilities of identification and new readings of the world on the part of the students when they come in contact with ancient cultures and societies.
