Cloud Computing:Strategies for Cloud Computing Adoption
2010
The advent of cloud computing in recent years has sparked an interest from different organisations, institutions and users to take advantage of web applications. This is a result of the new economic model for the Information Technology (IT) department that cloud computing promises. The model promises a shift from an organisation required to invest heavily for limited IT resources that are internally managed, to a model where the organisation can buy or rent resources that are managed by a cloud provider, and pay per use. Cloud computing also promises scalability of resources and on-demand availability of resources. Although, the adoption of cloud computing promises various benefits to an organisation, a successful adoption of cloud computing in an organisation requires an understanding of different dynamics and expertise in diverse domains. Currently, there are inadequate guidelines for adopting cloud computing and building trust. Therefore, this research project aims at developing a roadmap called ROCCA (Roadmap for Cloud Computing Adoption), which provides organisations with a number of steps for adopting cloud computing and building trust. An associated framework called ROCCA Achievement Framework (RAF) is also proposed. RAF is a framework that uses the criteria in the ROCCA to build a framework for measuring the adherence level to the proposed roadmap. This dissertation focuses on a range of strategic issues from a broad cross section of areas of expertise required to ensure a successful cloud computing adoption. It presents in detail the technological factors key to a successful cloud computing adoption, and it introduces the technology underlying cloud computing, and describes different cloud computing delivery and deployment models. It explains how an emphasis on collaboration between clients and vendor is essential for successful adoption of cloud computing. If the organisation feels free, confident and secure to use cloud services then it is more likely that the adoption rate will increase. By following the guidelines outlined, organisations can ensure that their adoption of cloud computing are effective, efficient and provides a high degree of satisfaction. This dissertation also covers iii cloud computing from a business perspective, ensuring that cloud computing adoption projects are fully costed, and risks are properly understood.
Challenges for Adoption of Cloud Environment

Cloud computing is one of the important research aspects of distributed computing in the emergence of information technology. Cloud computing refers to services, applications, and data storage delivered online through powerful file servers. Deployment of cloud computing depends on whether the cloud is a private, community, public, or hybrid one. Private clouds are operated for a particular organization, whereas community clouds are mutual by a number of organizations. Public clouds are available to the common public or large groups of Industries, while hybrid clouds combine public and private elements in the same data center. The proposed work focuses on a solution to the threats that are the major issues in the cloud adoption.

Key Issues for the Successful Adoption of Cloud Computing
Procedia Computer Science, 2017
Cloud Computing constitutes an alternative for organizations who do not intend to invest in in-house IT resources. It offers a service model on the premise that the consumer has at its disposal the means for manipulating information, over the internet, according to its current needs. However, outsourcing IT poses various challenges, such as the effective control of IT, attention to an increasing number of threats posed by the Internet ecosystem and concerns regarding the efficient use of resources. Hence, the uncertainties about the migration to Cloud Computing can have a negative impact on the adoption of this technology. In order to better inform the decision process launched by organizations considering the alternative of Cloud Computing, this study presents a list of key issues compiled from literature that could assist IT managers steering the organization towards the path of adopting Cloud Computing solutions efficiently and securely. In addition, to better understand those issues and rank them in terms of importance, interviews were conducted with IT directors of enterprises that use and provide Cloud services, endowing the list of issues with the views of practitioners that successfully experienced the migration to the Cloud environment.
Cloud Computing and its Security Issues
Application and Theory of Computer Technology, 2017
Cyber security is a major concern to cloud service vendors, social networks, money transfer services and mostly the user. Lack of cyber security causes losses to companies and even death to new social media users. Without cyber security, cloud adoption becomes a problem because the user is not satisfied of the safety of his/her information in cloud storage. Many companies have adopted the cloud computing system to improve on their storage facilities and save on the cost of buying the hardware. Cloud computing services are efficient to the user and he/she can easily retrieve information with any device connected to the internet. Using the cloud computing services, however, comes with challenges. It is can be attacked by hackers to be used to their advantage, just like other internet provided services. The paper will use a pragmatic approach to compare company performance on those adopted to cloud computing and those that still use traditional methods of storing data along with the importance of cyber security to the government and the public.
Cloud Computing: Opportunities and Challenges
IEEE Potentials, 2014
Cloud computing is a model for providing computing service such as storage, servers, services and applications, without physically acquiring them via the internet. Access to such service could be free or pay as per use. So that the organizations does not have to spent time and cost in managing them. Many business institutions are moving towards the cloud computing due to the efficiency of services and pay-per-use pattern. This pay-per-use pattern based on the resources consumption e.g. processing power, transactions carried out, bandwidth consumed, data transferred, or storage space occupied etc. In cloud computing the client data is maintained in the data centre of a cloud provider like Tata, Netmagic, Google, Amazon and Microsoft etc. Since the data is stored on Internet Cloud the user will have limited or no control over the data, which may lead to various security issues. Since the data custody is at data centre which could lead to threats such as data leakage, insecure interface, sharing of resources, data availability and inside attacks etc. There are various challenges for adopting cloud computing such as well managed service level agreement (SLA), Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA). This research paper outlines cloud computing industry models and issues associated with it. This research paper analyse the challenges which are present in cloud computing and best practices by service providers.
