The Influence of Leadership Styles and Work Motivation on Teacher’s Performance

This study determined the influence of the principal's leadership style and work motivation on the performance of high school teachers. Data in this study were collected through distributing the questionnaires to respondents. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed by using multiple regression analysis through t-test, F-test, and the coefficient of determination. Population in this study was all high school teachers in Air Kumbang subdistrict of Banyuasin district totaling 85 people. The sampling technique used was saturation. The research sample was 85 high school teachers. The results showed 1) there was a positive and significant effect of leadership style on teachers’ performance; 2) there was a positive and significant influence of work motivation on teachers’ performance; 3) there was a significant influence simultaneously of leadership style and work motivation on the performance of high school teachers in Air Kumbang sub-district Banyuasin.
The study examined the leadership style employed by principals that would motivate teachers in public secondary schools in Port Harcourt Local Government Area. Two research questions and two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The study adopted a descriptive approach. The population for the study is 496 teachers, made up of 208 males and 288 females from the 12 public secondary schools in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State. A total of 298 teachers (60% of the entire population) and seven schools constituted the sample size for the study. The study used a self-developed questionnaire titled, "Principals' Leadership Styles and Motivation of Teachers Questionnaire" (PLSMTQ). The reliability coefficient of 0.75 was determined using Pearson product Moment Correlation Coefficient. Data obtained were analyzed using mean for research questions and z-test to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Results showed that there is no significance difference between the mean response of male and female teachers on how principals' use of democratic leadership and autocratic leadership style motivate teachers in public secondary schools in Port Harcourt Local Government Area. Based on the findings, it was recommended that principals should involve subordinates in making decision on issues that bother on their welfare. School administrators should be encouraged to enroll for professional development training to keep abreast the best leadership style capable of achieving the desired educational objectives.

The purpose of this study investigated 1) the impact of the Principal's leadership style on results, 2) the effect of motivating teachers on performance, and 3) the effect of the Principal's leadership style and motivation on performance. This research is based on quantitative approaches. The population used all teachers in SMAN 1 and SMKN 1 Rambutan, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province as samples. This study examined the leadership styles of head teachers and how these leadership styles influence teacher motivation in the public basic schools in the Anomabo Education Circuit of the Mfantsiman Municipality in the Central Region of Ghana. Quantitative approach of Crosssectional survey design was adopted for the study. Purposive and random sampling techniques were used to select 115 respondents for the study. The respondents were made up of 14 head teachers and 101 teachers. The data for the study was obtained using Self-administered questionnaires. A test-re-test method was used to establish the reliability of the instrument, and correlation coefficient of 8.51 and 8.63 obtained for the questionnaires of the teachers and the head teachers respectively. The data obtained were analysed using mean and standard deviation. The results revealed that the most dominant leadership style used by the head teachers in the Anomabo in their administration is autocratic. Nevertheless, transformational leadership style is least employed by the headteacher in the Anomabo Education Circuit. Generally, teachers in the public schools in the circuit are motivated to perform their responsibilities to the best of their abilities and knowledge. However, the teachers are not highly motivated with regard to remuneration and conditions of Service. Based on the findings, it was recommended that the government should increase the salaries and offer other incentives to the teacher to motivate them to work well. Head teachers should also involve teachers when making decisions on issues that bother on the welfare of teachers. Furthermore, head teachers should be encouraged to enroll for professional development courses to keep abreast with the best leadership styles that will assist them to achieve the desired educational goals. The Ghana Education Service, through the Mfantsiman Municipal Education Directorate should organize regular in-service training programmes for the head teachers to improve upon their leadership skills and administrative practices.

This research was conducted to see the effect of the principal's leadership style and teacher's work motivation on teacher performance at SMAN 1 Guguak District, Limapuluh Kota District. The research method is a quantitative descriptive method. Research data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to respondents. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed using the non-parametric test using Spearman and the termination coefficient with IMB SPSS 25. The population in this study were all teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Guguak District, totaling 54 teachers. The sampling technique is to use the entire population. The research sample is all teachers. The results show that 1) there is a significant influence of the principal's leadership on teacher performance, 2) there is a significant effect of work motivation on teacher performance.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the most applied head teachers' leadership styles in motivating teachers' in secondary schools of Kitwe district, Zambia. The study was conducted using descriptive survey. Purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used to select 22 head teachers and 210 teachers respectively to participate in the study. Questionnaire instruments with likert scale questions were used as research tools in collecting data from teachers and head teachers. To test reliability of the instruments, data set on the questionnaires were subjected to chronbach`s alpha (α) test statistics using statistical package for social sciences version.20 (SPSS 20). Data collected from the participants were quantitatively analyzed and presented into tables using SPSS 20. The results for this study show that head teachers frequently apply democratic leadership style as they allow teachers to express their feelings about how things should be done and they put suggestions made by staff members into operation. It is recommended that head teachers in secondary schools of Kitwe district should equally apply all the three leadership styles (democratic, laissez-faire and autocratic) without favoring only one type of leadership style. The objectives of this study were: 1) to find out that there was a direct influence of the principal's leadership on the performance teachers of SMPN at Paguyaman; 2) knowing that there is a direct effect of achievement motivation on the performance of state junior high school teachers in Paguyaman District; 3) knowing that there is a direct influence of the principal's leadership and achievement motivation on the performance teachers of SMPN at Paguyaman District. The quantitative descriptive research method approach with the type of survey research that explains the causal relationship and performs hypothesis testing using the multiple regression analysis approach. The background of this study is the low productivity of teachers in school. This is influenced by several things, one of which is the lack of teacher preparation in preparing the learning process in class, and there are still many school programs that have not been completed in accordance with the specified targets. The role of the principal as a leader is very important to increase teacher productivity in school. The purposes of this study are to determine the effect of; (1) leadership style on work productivity for teachers in all State Junior High Schools of Surakarta, (2) work motivation on work productivity for teachers in all State Junior High Schools of Surakarta. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. The sample of this study was 300 teachers throughout Surakarta gathered from 27 State Junior High schools which were randomly selected. The results of this study indicate that; (1) leadership style has a direct positive effect on teachers' productivity in all State Junior High Schools of Surakarta, (2) work motivation has a direct positive effect on teachers' productivity in all State Junior High Schools of Surakarta, and (3) leadership style has a direct positive effect on teachers' work motivation in all State Junior High Schools of Surakarta. If it is viewed from the results of the path analysis, the conclusion of this study is work motivation being the most influential variable on increasing teachers' productivity in State Junior High School of Surakarta. Thus, this research is important to be recommended to educational policy makers in Surakarta as a reference in increasing work motivation of teachers in school.
Principal Leadership Style towards Teachers' Motivation on Secondary Schools in Nigeria
This study examines the relationship between principals' leadership styles applied by school and teachers' motivation in Nigerian secondary schools. The study is conceptual in nature and also the paper considers the drivers which motivate academics. The objectives of the study were to assess the effect of transformational principal leadership style on teachers' motivation and to establish the effect of transnational principal leadership style on teachers' motivation. The principal leadership style is behavior in a working process, which influences all school relevant motivation. Teachers' motivation refers to those variables, factors that power teachers do things. In its more scientific usage, teachers' motivation is to be seen as a psychological notion. It is regarded as a development of organizing behavior in progress and channeling behaviors into detailed course. It is a process of interesting, changing and at the bottom of behavior. The principal leadership style is the principal's behavior of a working process, which influences all school performances. A competent principal with leadership competencies has a great impact on teachers. He/she creates his/her management style through education, training and personal development.
