A Web-Based Project Management System
— As business become increasingly dependent on Information Technology for their operations, project managers find themselves under pressure to remain innovative and go forward to deliver quality projects, on time and within budget constraints. However, some organizations still find it hard to plan and track project components, stakeholders and resources. Additionally, project managers, team members and customers do not communicate frequently to share their expert opinions. Projects tend to extend beyond scheduled deadlines, not necessarily due to lack of resources or incompetence of projects members, but often because of inability to elicit requirements completely and inadequacy of proper communication. To this end, with the advent of Information Technology, there has been an increase in the demand for software that make jobs easier for people, as a result, to keep up with rising demand, project managers need a way to effectively manage their software projects. Using the iterative methodology, a web based software project management system was developed, that fully monitors project progress, allocates tasks, creates milestones and provides an avenue for stakeholders to track project progress during its development phase. The developed system solves the problem of unity and lack of communication. With the system, once added to a new project, all participating members may send messages to one another and keep tabs on the progress of the project so as to implement the stakeholder's requirements efficiently.

This paper presented information about the online project tracking system. This online project tracking system is designed to track the process of final year project of student. In which, student can upload his/her group documents on their login portal step by step as the per the project process. On which, project guide will monitor on their assigned groups. And then give feedback report to their respective student groups

Being a network application we will still be able to use the network based software technologies which are used in web based applications and which help make web applications faster and better like XML, AJAX, JavaScript, etc. While using J2EE to make the connected components communicate faster (response time is reduced), make the system scalable allowing multiple simultaneous access. It involves features such as requirement analysis, allocation of the resources, project designing and its planning followed by scheduling and also responsible for managing the cost and the system administration which can handle complex projects. The system was implemented on an enterprise scale where many users simultaneously access the system and also insert and retrieve information; security is also provided so that misuse does not occur. Enterprise Project Management (EPM) is responsible for developing an organization that processes the integral management and adapting to the changes of a transformation. Internet-based database management system for project control
Purpose -The objective of this paper is to develop an efficient project management system to track and control construction activities for contractors and/or project managers. Design/methodology/approach -The work package model is utilized to break down project data into activities and work tasks. The data structure of a project is represented using the entities-relationship methodology. A relational database stores all of the project data. The earned value method calculates the cost and schedule variances. The internet-based platform with three-tier client-server architecture is chosen for system implementation. Findings -The developed project database stores all of the project data necessary to perform project control functions. The implementation of the project database management system is efficient. The developed system provides real-time data sharing and a collaborating environment in support of project control. Originality/value -Time and cost control are essential management functions for achieving successful delivery of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects. The developed system can assist contractors and/or project managers in tracking and control of their construction projects in a real-time manner.
An application of the Internet-based project management system
Automation in Construction, 2001
The great advance in information technologies IT and the availability of a wide range of software in recent years have brought many changes in the construction industry. The Internet, a new member of IT, offers a medium with new opportunities to manage construction projects. This paper describes an Internet-based project management system called Ž. ''Total Information Transfer System'' TITS. TITS comprises six major functions including data exchange, information exchange, Internet chat, live video-cam, search engine and auxiliary services. TITS is demonstrated for project monitoring with a real-life project.
SatraPM, A Customizable Web-based Project Management Software
SatraPM is a web-based software package, aiming to help project managers to easily handle their construction projects via internet. This software is capable of handling all projects of an organization, in which all projects can be defined in EPS the same as users in OBS. A 3D accessing module links EPS, OBS and inherent functions in order to provide a secure environment for the data to be processed throughout the system. This paper intends to take a deeper look at capabilities of SatraPM in helping project managers to keep track of and control their construction projects as well as its potential future features.
4COLLABORATIVE Web Based Project Management Software
2012
Project Management Software dramatically improves performance and the communication between the distributed and remote teams. Project Management software heightens the visibility and control of the application development lifecycle-giving a better control over the entire development process, from the management stage through development. The goal of Project Management Software is to produce a product that is delivered on time, within the allocated budget, and with the capabilities expected by the customer. Project management software is basically a properly managed project has a clear, communicated, and managed set of goals and objectives, whose progress is quantifiable and controlled. Resources are used effectively and efficiently to produce the desired product. A project usually has a communicated set of processes that cover the daily activities of the project, forming the project framework. As a result, every team member understands their roles, responsibilities and how they fit into the big picture thus promoting the efficient use of resources.
Web 2.0 Technologies Supporting Project Management Needs
Interdisciplinary Management Research, 2013
With t he rising number and importance of projects in di erent business and other areas, the need to support persons in charge of or working on projects is becoming more and more topical. Accurate and timely data about project plans, actual progress and costs, proposed solutions etc. are of vital importance for project managers and consequently for assuring the project's success. Appropriate information systems and technologies need to be at hand for project managers and project team members. While special solutions, developed for project oriented environments in the past, o ered a great support for project managers, some new and still insu ciently recognized opportunities for improving projects' e ciency arise from web 2.0 technologies. e paper presents some of the functions deriving from different web 2.0 products usable for project management needs, as well as some of the web 2.0 technologies that can be useful for project management.
Software project management and measurement on the World-Wide-Web (WWW)
Proceedings of WET ICE '96. IEEE 5th Workshop on Enabling Technologies; Infrastucture for Collaborative Enterprises
We briefly describe a system for forms-based, workflow management that helps members of a software development team overcome geographical barriers to collaboration. Our system, called the Web Integrated Software Environment (WISE), is implemented as a WorldWide Web service that allows for management and measurement of software development projects based on dynamic analysis of change activity in the workflow. WISE tracks issues in a software development process, provides informal communication between the users with different roles, supports to-do lists, and helps in software process improvement. WISE minimizes the time devoted to metrics collection and analysis by providing implicit delivery of messages between users based on the content of project documents. The use of a database in WISE is hidden from the users who view WISE as maintaining a personal "to-do list" of tasks related to the many projects on which they may play different roles.
