Administratively, the research area is located in Tectonic Complex of Bantimala Elle River Tondong Tallasa Pangkep District South Sulawesi Province, research area is located at coordinates 119° 44' 10" - 119° 44’ 30" East Longitude and 04° 50' 10" – 04° 50' 30"South Latitude. This research aims to determine the provenance, plate tectonics of sandstone in the reasearch area by measuring section and petrography analysis methode. Sandstone of the study area were divided into two, namely the sublithic arenite and quartz arenite groups. Provenance was determined based on analysis of variations in quartz, rock fragments and mineral associations. Based on these parameters, the provenance of sandstones is metamorphic and sediment-metasedimentary rocks. The tectonic setting was determined through the Q-F-L diagram (Dickinson and Suczek, 1979) which showed the type of tectonic setting during the deposition is recycled orogen with the origin of the rock sourced from the subduction complex.
