NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING SERVICES IN ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

This project consists on creating an app that helps people with partial or total loss of hearing and deaf people. It is ideally designed to be used in academic environments and classrooms where students with these conditions can carry out their everyday activities with normalcy. Hence, the application enables teacher and student to join a chat room so that the teacher can give a class while the student sees his words reflected in the text of the chat room in the chosen language. The application has an additional function that consists on turning text into speech to communicate easily with others (not only in the academic environment). Users are allowed to record audio with the microphone to convert text so it can be read by a deaf person especially during short conversations. This is planned through cognition services offered by Google AI with cloud data processing algorithms where developers have access to high-level services that boost the creation of solutions that require Artificial Intelligence (AI). The eagerness of this project is reflected in the fact that 100% of the people interviewed to assess the app agree that it can be useful tool for society. Therefore, they conclude that there is an 80% probability that they will download the app in a nearby future.

College Enquiry Chat Bot System with Text to Speech

Chat bots are intelligent systems that interpret and react to users' questions in their native language. In a conversation, the chat bot reacts in the same way as a human would. It functions as a virtual assistant, and its accuracy is assessed by determining a correlation between user questions and chat bot responses. For a better user experience, the implemented Chat bot has two modes: text mode and audio mode. It provides an interactive approach of answering through voice messages when in audio mode. There is a long line at the inquiry window during the Institute's Academic Admission procedure. Even more challenging is the situation for parents who live in various cities, states, and nations. The purpose of this system is to give students and parents a place to ask questions and get answers via easy English language text messages or audio commands. Instead of queuing at an information desk to ask questions about the admissions process, students and parents will collaborate with a bot. Artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) algorithms are used to create chatbots, which are intelligent systems. It effectively interacts with users and responds to their questions. Organizations, government groups, and non-profit associations are the most common users of dialogue/conversation operators. These conversational experts work for a wide range of businesses, from small start-ups to large corporations. There are a variety of code-based and interface-based chatbot development platforms available on the market.

Development of a Chatbot to Encourage the Use of Assistive Technologies and Reduce the Rate of Discontinuance

Assistive Technology is an interdisciplinary group of tools that assists people with impairment. Even though 30% of people that use these discontinued using them, complicating their autonomy, quality of life, and social inclusion. For that, a prototype of Chatbot was developed to assist individuals with impairment to increase their adherence to Assistive Technologies. Chatbots are virtual assistants that interact with their users through messages, images, videos, and sounds, using an Artificial Intelligence tool named Natural Language Processing to simulate a person. It can be used in smartphones, computers, and other devices. This prototype was developed in the BLiP® platform, introducing a Knowledge Base with all the essential information about Assistive Technologies. The prototype assessment consisted of the White Box (Structural) and the Black Box (Functional) tests. The prototype was tested and presented a great flow of conversation and no errors in the structure. Besides the benefits provided, Chatbots cannot substitute a healthcare professional but only assist. Chatbots can be potential assistants that will increase and improve healthcare treatments.

Design of Smart Chatbot for Medical Application using Natural Language Processing

People are increasingly using voice assistants and chatbots to connect with systems. The days of interacting with a service only through a keyboard are long gone. Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing developments have supported these new types of user interaction. This paper presents the design and development of an intelligent chat bot with natural language processing. The paper presents a technology demonstrator to verify a proposed framework required to support such a bot (Spring framework). Communication structure uses wildfly server for clients communication. By introducing an artificial brain, the web based bot generates customised user responses, aligned to desired character. Question asked to bot, and response is archived, improving the artificial brain capabilities for future generation of response.
