IRJET- Correlation between Driver Behaviour and Road Safety: A Review
IRJET, 2020
Road safety has become a major concern for all of us. Driver behaviour is one of the major problems that is indulge in road accident. While driving performing another task, such as use of mobile phones, running of red lights, drink and drive driving on a restricted path, all these are related to driver behaviour. In the previous studies, many relations are formed between driver behaviour and road safety or accidents but there are some parameters which are need to be added to make healthy relation between driver behaviour and road safety. Regression analysis needs to be done by collecting data with the help of a questionnaire survey. The main aim of this paper is to find the best relation between the driver behaviour and road safety by adding more parameters such as road side advertisement, driving for an extra hours. Taking driver behaviour as an independent variable and road safety as a dependent behaviour a model can be formed. Introduction: Driver behaviour is important factors on roads socially as well as economically, but also provide significant risks to various lives, which include injury and death. According to previous research, many people die every year due to road accidents which occurred sometime due to drivers fault, but due to improvements in technologies such as ITS AND GPS has been used in the vehicles to improve the road safety. Many researches has been done using technology for finding the different accident causing drivers behaviour. In this study, it was notable that drivers experience, driver mind set and perception of risk all these are the major factor which can increase or decrease the accident risk. Human behaviour has the most high impact on accident risk. Most of these are aware of traffic rules, while others are the result of errors due to inexperienced drivers, lapse of concentration, inactive or not able to perform well, in the end age is also an important factor. These drivers behaviours often cause road accidents. Apart from unskilled drivers and lack of knowledge along with disobey of the road and safety rules are the bigger problems. There are many factors related to driver behaviour which are main cause of road accidents. So, to identify them and making a combination of those factor and correlate them with road accidents and safety is the main motive. The aim is to know about drivers' behaviour based on a questionnaire, to find various road sides distraction which may cause traffic accidents and highlight their effect on traffic safety. The analysis is based on the questionnaire by using mini tab software to predict accident rates. The data for this study was collected from a survey questionnaire and some photographs and videos will also be taken and the available accidental data also included in it. In conclusion, the aggressive behaviour increases the chance of accidents. Through this, it was concluded that injuries and traffic accidents are directly relates to driver behaviour. Preventive countermeasures were recommended to improve traffic safety.

The number of persons injured due to Traffic Accidents in Japan has exceeded 1 million during each of the past eight years (as of 2006), and reducing the number of traffic accidents has become an urgent issue. We believe that reducing the opportunities for encountering traffic incidents, which may lead to traffic accidents, is an effective means of reducing the number of traffic accidents. Previous analysis of traffic incidents using drive recorders was conducted primarily to analyze the factors which cause traffic accidents and to analyze driver behavior. This study utilized a questionnaire investigation to collect examples of traffic incidents which occur during ordinary driving, analyzed the driver behavior and driver mental and physical states immediately before encountering the traffic incident, and identified driver characteristics which make traffic incidents more likely. We also conducted a comparison with the regression analysis results from previous research concerning day...

The traffic accidents often occur due to the lack of awareness while driving. The variance reason such us undisciplined and unwise to be polite when driving is the main cause of crashes. Road safety is one of the important roles to support and to develop to the commonwealth. This research aims to investigate the potential risk of speeding on a national road in Makassar. The driver performance the speeding is more occurs in the midnight till dawn. The situation of drivers while speeding is conducted to make them arrived early to the destination. The respondents' preferences also show the speed of the vehicle through the national road is around 40 – 60 km/hour. It is still in normal speed requirement at least 60 km/hour. Pentingnya menjaga ketertiban ketertiban be...
Researching Effects of Drivers Features on Traffic Accidents: Kocaeli Model
Electronic Journal of Vocational Colleges, 2013
In addition to environmental conditions, weather conditions and density, situations related to drivers are more effective on traffic accidents, according to available data. Regarding occurrence of traffic accidents, it is observed that point of view of drivers towards traffic rules and drivers’ compliance with these rules is not parallel. It is important to research the reasons that cause this situation. A normal person’s mental state does not change without any reason at traffic. It is clear that these reasons may be significant factors that may change the attention of drivers or cause them make mistakes. Within scope of this research, most of the traffic accidents that occurred in Kocaeli between 2006-2010 have been evaluated. Information registered by Ak Sigorta was used in this regard. Total 27.375 traffic accidents were addressed for the period between 2006-2010 and related tables were produced and these accidents were evaluated accordingly. In addition, face-to-face surveys we...
Traffic accidents worldwide is increasing due to a pragmatic vehicle ownership, acquisition, which necessitates daily activities. The primary objective of this research work was to identify the most hazardous location and provide countermeasures that will minimize the traffic accident at the designated sites. The scope of the study was limited to Ambo-Ginchi-Addis Ababa road, a total length of study road section of 87kms. The traffic accident data collected from each Wededa Police station covering the period of 2012-2015. It was analyzed using a Priority value formula for EjereWereda and Holota town, and accident frequency for Ambo wereda, Dendiwereda and Welmeraweredato rank the traffic accident areas. Based on the results of the analysis, thirteen locations of the road stretch were found to be accident prone areas. Out of these sites, three of them are in Ambo Wereda, two in Ejerewereda, one in Welmerawereda, and seven in Holota town. The time when most of the accidents occurred from 3:00PM-6: 00 PM. The primary causes of the accidents were over speeding, driving without attention and some unknown reasons. Also, it showed that the drivers' age group who caused most of the accidents composed of 25-34 years old.

Transportation plays an essential role in our everyday lives. Transportation planners often looking for systems that are efficient, reliable, and safe. One of the most significant factors in road accidents and public safety is the behavior of drivers. The Driver Behavior Questionnaire (DBQ) has not been used in Peshawar to find driver behavior. The dream of a secure and effective transportation network seems to exacerbate these conditions. The complete DBQ method is essential to find the effectiveness of the DBQ. The Driver Behavior Questionnaire (DBQ) was split into four separate sections. There were three major categories of driver behavior: mistakes, slips and lapses, violations, and unintentional violations. The respondents had to rate themselves on a scale of 1 to 3, how good they think they are, how healthy they think they are. The report concludes with a list of recommendations on how drivers can improve their behavior. Survey was performed at colleges and public buildings in parking lots. Drivers were questioned directly in the parking lot. 250 questionnaires were filled out in total. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was mainly used for the analysis of the data. Almost 64% of people do not have a driving license. 62% consider the process of getting a license difficult while 29% consider it of no use, and they believe they do not need it. Drivers with no driving license do more speeding than those who have a license. Most of the respondents were of the opinion to have strict enforcement of traffic rules, mandatory training before issuing a driving license.
Traffic Accident Model Reviewed from The Factors of Driving Behaviour of Surabaya-Gempol Toll Road
International Journal of Integrated Engineering, 2020
The development of road capacity is not in line with the development of the population and the increase in the number of vehicles. This has become a classic problem of transportation in the big cities of Indonesia, including in East Java Province. The existence of road capacity in accommodating vehicles must be resolved. One way to accommodate the number of vehicles is through the toll road. But comfortable conditions of the toll road can cause accidents. One factor causing this is the driver's behavior factors, as the toll road is a freeway, they tend to drive carelessly. On the other hand, high planning standards make the difference between toll roads and ordinary highways. Yet barrier-free road does not mean that the traffic accident problem can be resolved properly. This study aims to determine how significant is the influence of driver behavior factor in causing accidents. The methodology is done by analyzing the data using statistical methods. Based on the accident data obtained, a mathematical model with multiple linear regression analysis is made. The model connects the number of traffic accidents on the Surabaya-Gempol toll road with the number of accidents caused by driver factors. The results showed that the factors causing the accident were caused by less anticipated driver factors, carelessness, drowsiness, drunkenness, distance, etcetera. This variable has a significant effect on traffic accidents at Surabaya-Gempol Toll Road by 54%.

The response variable for this study is accident severity (fatal and non-fatal). According to the study's findings, the number of injuries, number of fatalities, vehicle velocity, accident t...
A Survey on Modeling of Driver Behavior for Tier II City of India
The driving behaviour clearly related to traffic and this factor related to human safety. In today's life everybody are in harry to reach to the certain destination such as office, collage, etc. The characteristics of behavior consider to be different for different conditions and situations. The human factor include in driver behavior are Excitement Sensation Seeking , Impulsiveness Extraversion and Driving Anger the vehicle characteristics include Braking and deceleration , Low-speed turning characteristics, Acceleration, High-speed turning characteristics , Size ,Weight. To reach their destination rapidly people use vehicles on road use and drive them in faster mode and not follow the rules which results in road accidents. The data are collected from the selected site of 15 m from Hingna RBI Square, Nagpur. Data collection is done with the help of video graphic method and data are collected at peak hour and off-peak hour. Some important parameter is considering such as rule violation, spot speed determination for this project. Driver behavior is a major cause for the road accidents. To report this problem, drive behavior evaluation and prediction models need to be developed.
