Otitis is the most common pathology found in clinics and veterinary hospitals. The treatment chosen to be followed is not an easy task because it is necessary very specific lab exams, the technique used to contain the animal, the ability of the doctor using the otoscopy, and the conditions of visualization of the ear horizontal line in order to determine the etiology in case of stenosis. This bibliography review aims to deeply discuss the external otitis in dogs. It intends to contribute with the correct diagnosis of the disease which has as support lab exams, in order to analyze the traditional treatments made by medicines and surgeries. The Zepp technique calls attention mainly because the incision made in the lateral wall of the conduit auditive which has been contributing to the cure of the external otitis when the treatment is not enough. This review had as theoretical support for national and international publication collected from bibliographical and webliography lists.
