Iraq is now building its economy and in frastructure and has the potential to build a robust infrastructure based on a solid foundation. BPR could be applied to all business sectors. Iraqi government and businesses could achieve tremendous advantages by adopting BPR. Nowadays, Iraq i's Small and Mediu m Enterprises (SM Es) faces difficult ies in managing and improving the business structure. Many small co mpanies conjectures that the importance of integrate new facilit ies to achieve the required imp rovements in their business needs. BPR tools and simu lations are used in huge company; however, it is also needed by small and med iu m-size enterprises in human resource management in order to strengthen their business operation and management. This study involved the degree of readiness of the Iraqi SMEs for applying BPR tools in managing the business resources, ease of use, usefulness, quality management, employee's self efficacy, self-confidence, and motivation. A quantitative research method was used using a questionnaire survey in order to verify these factors contribute to the use of BPR in the Iraqi SM Es. A total of 170 responses were collected fro m three enterprise companies in Baghdad. A framework of BPR tools in the Iraqi SM Es was produced to help these companies implementing BPR in order to develop emp loyee's motivation, self-efficacy, self-confidence, and quality.

Business Process Re-Engineering in Public Administration of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The government of Saudi Arabia is in the phase of transformation. Business process reengineering (BPR) can play a vital role in assessing this conversion. BPR methodologies provide ways to optimize the use of resources while maintaining high-quality services. The aim of this paper is to investigate the introduction of BPR in Saudi Arabia public sector. A framework is proposed to transform change using a knowledge based. The proposed solution is validated through survey. The results of the survey show that Saudi Governmental Agencies acquire the power to implement the BPR successfully especially if it is implemented with knowledge management and the BPR movement started at small scale.

Business process reengineering Business process reengineering: a survey of international experience

Despite the widespread adoption of business process re-engineering (BPR), it has in many cases repeatedly failed to deliver its promised results. The lack of integrated implementation approach to exploiting BPR is seen as one of the important reasons amongst others, behind BPR failures. Yet, a relative void in the literature remains the scarcity of suitable models and frameworks that address the implementation issues surrounding BPR. This motivates the presented study to attempt to provide a``frame of reference'' with which current practices can be re-positioned. A survey was therefore designed to collect data from a sample of organizations in the USA and Europe. The survey assesses the level of importance placed on the essential elements of integrated BPR implementation. In doing so, the study was also able to identify the level of maturity of BPR concepts within organisations. Empirical findings are then discussed in the context of other studies.

Business Process Reengineering (BPR) Initiatives in Public Sector of Pakistan

This study examined three cases from the service sector to examine the BPR initiative in the public sector of Pakistan. The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare reengineering efforts in the public sector and to find an answer to the question, 'How are these initiatives taking place in developing countries. In-depth interviews were conducted with top management of all three organizations, and the planning documents were reviewed for understanding the planning, implementation, purpose, and performance of the BPR initiative. The background of the BPR process with a set of questions was extracted from literature on reengineering, and then the three cases (firms) were discussed with figures of the current and previous systems. Afterwards, information extracted from semi-structured interviews is presented using a qualitative data technique for comparative analysis and discussion. The study reveals that there are successes and failures in BPR projects of the same public sector (reasons of failure and success are discussed); however, it is a positive sign that government and concerned stakeholders are taking initiatives for public sector reform in Pakistan.

This paper examines the market, technological and industrial context of business process re-engineering (BPR) in UK businesses, reviewing the history of BPR and its relationship to existing management approaches. Case studies of UK companies reported in the literature and popular press are examined, the implications of undertaking a BPR exercise are reviewed and potential areas for further research are identified.

Business Process Reengineering (BPR): A Strategic Choice

This article reviews the Business Process Reengineering (BPR) vision of radical business process change, focusing upon the use of information technology, to facilitate a shift away from linear work organization towards parallel processing and multidisciplinary team working. To approach such a change, by focusing on the technologies aspect to the detriment of a regard on managerial, technological and human resources management, might however handicap a lot the chances of succeeding of such a project. Organizational structures and human resources management politics indeed shape the positioning of actors facing the change project, and constitute the appropriation context of those technologies. This article aims to show the significance to articulate those three poles of reengineering.
