Keeping students’ motivation to learn L2 is a challenging activity in teaching and learning process. Teachers are expected to perform their job dutifully by engaging students into attractive learning activities. At the same time, they are also contested with students’ characteristics diversity. The utilization of memes is a proposed teaching strategy to minimize the gap between students’ traits, technology rapid development, and the constant need of renewing effort to enhance students’ performance. Internet Memes as Cultural Education Tools in L2 Teaching

The paper considers Internet memes as cultural education tools in L2 teaching. Normally considered as humorous and highly entertaining items in social networking communication, Internet memes can also be used to acquire social and cultural awareness in the context of secondary education. Internet memes have certain similarities with lexis and text. These properties define the algorithm for working with the memes: text-like qualities of memes state the structure of the algorithm and lexis-like qualities are responsible for its variable part. It makes it possible to combine teaching methods traditionally applied to lexis and text to Internet memes in L2 with information technology tools (meme generator programs), which results in a complex of classroom activities aimed at using Internet memes as education tools. Given the cultural capital of the Internet memes, the authors believe the efficiency of the aforementioned activities in teaching L2 students language and culture.

Initiating Integrative Motivation for Learning L2 Using ICT
The learners in a language classroom have individual differences due to their different social and cultural background and their association to the second language. The difference in second language learning is felt in the differences in attitudes and motivational characteristics. Motivation represents one of the most appealing, yet complex, variables used to explain individual differences in language learning. 'What factors motivate the learners to the learning of L2?' is a question to be considered. It may be the global position that English enjoys or the environment of the student which demands him or her mastery of the language. Learning English opens the door to join an international community of English users, which is particularly appealing to young people, eager to communicate across frontiers. There is a growing interest in the learning of foreign languages where an 'eclectic approach' is set within a broad conceptual framework. The student with integrative motivation to learn the second language, has an openness to identify with the other language community, and has favourable attitudes towards the language situation. Technological advancements are liable to affect the popularity of the language and language learning. The present net generation students of English, wish to become successful intercultural communicators. The paper presents how ICT tools and elearning materials provided with a thorough and systematic intercultural training, has the potential to instil integrative motivation in the students. They will be able to compare their own culture with that of other cultures, evaluate critically and interpret the results of the comparisons and apply them in both verbal and non verbal communication for transactional and interactional purposes. The millennial generation spends many hours on the computer, often the Internet.How to motivate your students to value class activities, and without external pressure, to carry them out on their own?.In this paper we agree that teachers should use digital tools in the teaching process and to combine them with well known methods and approaches. Teachers today tend to classify students as not being able to concentrate. We should help our students in this situation using innovative digital aids; they are using them a lot on a daily basis, so, in this way, we can get closer to them. Using something similar in our classroom may make lessons more appealing to them, and it can surely motivate them to learn. We should be aware of the fact that nowadays students prefer looking at a screen than books, so we should use new resources.

This study investigated the effectiveness of meme-based learning on Nigerian university students' engagement, motivation, and understanding of complex concepts. Using a survey design, the research involved 60 students from the Department of Educational Technology at Lagos State University of Education. A four-week meme-based learning intervention was implemented, incorporating multimedia learning, social learning, and gamification principles. The results showed significant positive effects of meme-based learning; 80% of students reported increased engagement with course material, 75% indicated higher motivation to learn complex concepts, 80% noted improved understanding of complex concepts, 90% found learning more enjoyable with memes and 75% perceived meme-based learning as more effective than traditional teaching methods. These findings suggest that meme-based learning can be a powerful tool for enhancing educational outcomes in Nigerian universities. However, the study also revealed that a small percentage of students did not benefit from or prefer this approach, highlighting the need for diverse teaching strategies. The research contributes to the growing body of literature on innovative pedagogical approaches in African contexts and demonstrates the potential of leveraging internet culture for educational purposes. It also underscores the importance of culturally relevant content in meme-based learning strategies.

Technology as a Motivational Factor in Foreign Language Learning
It is a common belief that engagement and motivation are crucial factors in learning and especially in language learning. In particular, increasing motivation can lead to the mobilization of students' personal, cognitive, emotional and behavioral resources and, consequently to better learning results. As digital technology has become more sophisticated, its tools and applications can be used in and outside the classroom, in both formal and informal settings, in order to increase students' motivation. Amongst the various factors-tools, methods or strategies-that can lead to increased motivation, this paper examines the role of technology as a motivational factor in foreign language learning. The relationship between the use of technological means such as web tools and services, digital games, mobile apps or communication tools and motivation in language learning context, has been studied extensively, with a wide variety of approaches, and within the framework of several language learning applications. In order to determine the real impact of technology on learners' motivation, an extensive literature review focusing on studies that have examined the impact of technology use in language learning and teaching on motivation to learn, has been carried out. Furthermore, this paper discusses the concept of motivation in learning context and the relationship between technology and language learning, summarizes some of the numerous studies and researches on this subject, presents a synthesis of the studies examined, and formulates conclusions and perspectives for effective integration of technology as a motivational tool / factor in language learning context.

Different new media tools like Facebook, blogs, wikis, Google docs and YouTube are perceived to have effects on English language (L2) learner motivation at the tertiary level in Bangladesh. However, the effects of new media usage on L2 learner motivation are not defined yet in the context. This study investigates the effects of new media usage on L2 learner motivation at the tertiary level. A qualitative research design is used throughout the study to collect and analyze the data. Data were collected through six Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with 30 tertiary level English language learners from eight universities located in Bangladesh. The findings of the study show that new media usage in English language learning motivates learners immensely, transforms dependent and passive learners into active and autonomous learners, makes them participatory, engaging and enthusiastic in learning, and works as a supplement to the classroom teachings. This paper shall look at existing resources on the incorporation of Web2.0 platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp, the content (memes, GIFs, pun-driven images, etc.) and language (SMS lingo) used therein in modern language classrooms. Pedagogic approaches are changing with changing times-evidence of this change can be seen in the wide adaption of visual literacy, particularly among Gen Z learners who find it easier to read a pictorial book or a shortened text further shortened to reach their minds that are accustomed to the colourful world of social media rather than regular paperbacks with text on either side of a paper. This paper explores the use of memes, GIFs, and other relatable social media content either for reference or as the primary input in language classrooms. The paper aims to highlight the tried and tested approaches used to make modern language education fun for learners. It serves as a good reservoir of ideas of meme-based activities and portrays the perspective of learners and teachers on their efficacy as a pedagogic strategy.
