The complexity of strategic alignment is an overwhelming issue in the digital age for organizations. Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) is a major tool that facilitate the alignment efforts, providing several methods for planning and analysis. There are several methodologies that need a formal and systematic approach. The artefacts describing an Enterprise Architecture can be perceived as documents that can be represented in hypergraphs. The graph-based approach lays the groundwork for formal analysis that can assist to identify discrepancies, gaps, security, integrity and consistency issues. The paper depicts a high-level model for artefacts representing Enterprise Architecture in a hypergraph formalism. This approach can be a promising solution for EAM-based analysis of information systems and their organizational context.

This paper presents a description of an analytical approach based on hypergraph representation for enterprise architecture (EA) based on hypergraph theory. The hypergraph as a mathematical structure is very flexible thereby it offers the opportunity for unified and uniform handling of models and providing solutions for representing various views and perspectives of the functioning enterprise exploiting the service of IS. The central concept of EA Modeling is the artifact of the outcome of some modeling, designing and analysis activity. Our idea is to present a formal way to use the mathematical analytic methods for exploring misalignment based on different concepts and relationships between various concepts in the domain and try to align BP requirements.
A Hypergraph Based Formal Description Technique for Enterprise Architecture Representation

This paper provides a description about a hypergraph-based formalism for representing enterprise architecture, including formalized constraints for enterprise architecture definition. The paper describes a solid concept using the TOGAF Content Metamodel and the hypergraph theory. Hypergraphs provide a flexible mathematical structure to describe complex relationships in an enterprise architecture, mirroring the dependencies among components, and exploring integrity and consistency issues. The approach outlined in this paper offers extended analytical potential for discrepancy checking in complex enterprise architecture structures utilizing the tool set of hypergraph theory. The proposed approach can be used for extending EAM-based analysis of business information systems.

Building a Conceptual Skeleton for Enterprise Architecture Specifications

This paper describes a way to build a conceptual model for diversified purposes of modelling Enterprise Architectures (EA). It is commonly known that, due to the complexity, Enterprise Architectures need to be considered from several viewpoints. This provokes an integration problem: how to ensure that parallel EA models are consistent. We believe that the best way to solve this problem is to build a generic conceptual model (or an ontology) that is based on the purpose and needs of EA modelling rather than on the metamodels or modelling techniques of the prevailing (viewpoint-specific) domains of EA modelling. In other words, instead of aggregating existing sub-domains of EA we should try to find the core concepts through analyzing the EA domain as a whole.
