New Frontiers of Higher Education in India

With the advent of 21 st century, the education industry has undergone dynamics of vast landscaping for reaching the untapped areas of learning, research and witnessing the outstretch of digitalization of education industry. Research and technological advancement has changed the pace and face of education, making it more vibrant, practical and distended than ever before. India is the third largest educational entity in terms of higher education of the world in terms of student enrolment (13.64 million), and first in terms of total number of higher educational institution (26,000 institutions) comprising of 8% public sector institutions and 92% of private sector institution. The number of universities and colleges has arisen from 578 in the year 1951 to 25,951 in the year 2010. The current estimates indicate that the spending on higher education in India to be nearly INR 46,200 crores i.e. 32.3% of public expenditure in 2010 against 10.9% in 1950-51. 30 new Central Universities were proposed in the 11 th five year plan. On technical education, side 8 new IITs, 20 NITs, 20 IIITs, 3 IISERs, 7 IIMs, 2 SPAs and 500 new community Polytechnics and 210 new community colleges have also been proposed. There are 18 regulatory bodies that provide more effective assessment and evaluation of academic performance. Such statistic shows the paradigm swift of the education industry in India and opens a new frontier with further opportunities for growth and advancement. Together with this, education industry witnesses fatality of academic corruption, plagiarism, poor academic performance, unethical practices, etc. Higher education worldwide is moving toward creative disruption on multiple fronts. These advancements are like double edged sword, and educationists need much excellence to put these developments in right, directive and productive path.

Higher Educational Institutions of Indian Origin in the UAE

Formed in 1971, the UAE, comprising of seven emirates, transformed itself quickly from a subsistence economy to a highly prosperous modern economy in a short span of time. This was made possible by the utilization of its huge earnings from petroleum exports into infrastructure development, and more importantly in primary and higher education, and for promoting economic activities. What Ails Indian Higher Education

Indian higher education system is one of the largest in the world. According to UGC data on Indian higher education system for the year 2014 – 2015 there is about 329 state universities, 46 central universities, 128 deemed to be universities, 74 institutions of national importance, and 205 state private universities functioning in the country. Beside this reputation of large higher education network, it is revealed from various surveys that the quality of education has been provided by various Indian university and institutions is far from satisfactory. According, to the times higher education ranking of world universities and research institutions no Indian university or institution has find its position within the top 100 universities/institutions of the world in the year 2015-2016. From the surveys of various reputed international organization, it has been clearly revealed that the quality of higher education provided by various Indian universities and research institutions is quite low standard compare to various top ranked world universities and research institutions. Although, there are various commissions and committees hadbeen set up by Indian government to enhance the quality of Indian higher education but yet it has been experienced that some negative factors still exist which pull back the quality of higher education in India. Therefore, to highlight about various problem crippling Indian higher education system initiative has been taken in this paper and details discussion has been done in below.
