The Design of Light Jet Aircraft
This paper discusses the design of light jet aircraft (LJA) in the university level. The design process that covers by this paper is just from conceptual approach. Current technical information of the light jet aircraft in the market will be studied for competitor analysis purpose. After that, the calculation process will take part, like initial sizing, performance sizing, initial sizing of main component, weight breakdown, cg (centre of gravity) position and aircraft performance. It concludes with a discussion of the results and recommendations for future work. This paper will only concentrate on conceptual design, the next stage of design can be continuing in future with the data from this paper.

Aircraft design; Ajoy Kumar Kundu
Aircraft Design explores the conceptual phase of a fixed-wing aircraft design project. Designing an aircraft is a complex, multifaceted process that embraces many technical challenges in a multidisciplinary environment. By definition, the topic requires intelligent use of aerodynamic knowledge to configure aircraft geometry suited specifically to a customer's demands. It involves configuring aircraft shape, estimating its weight and drag, and computing the available thrust from the matched engine. The methodology includes formal sizing of the aircraft, engine matching, and substantiating performance to comply with a customer's demands and government regulatory standards. Associated topics include safety issues; environmental issues; material choice; structural layout; and understanding the flight deck, avionics, and systems (for both civil and military aircraft). Cost estimation and manufacturing considerations also are discussed. The chapters are arranged to optimize understanding of industrial approaches to aircraft-design methodology. Example exercises based on the author's industrial experience with typical aircraft design are included. Additional sections specific to military aircraft highlighted with an asterisk are available on the Web at www.cambridge.org/Kundu

Reexamined Structural Design Procedures for Very Flexible Aircraft
Journal of Aircraft, 2014
This paper reviews the applicability of some conventional structural design practices to the analysis and design of very flexible aircraft. The effect of large structural deformations and the coupling between aeroelasticity and flight dynamics is investigated in different aspects of the aircraft structural design process, including aeroelastic stability, loads, and flight dynamics and control. This is illustrated with a numerical example of the static and dynamic responses of a representative high-altitude long-endurance vehicle. Suggestions are presented for the development of appropriate frameworks to design and analyze very flexible aircraft.
Influence of Aeroelastic Effects on Preliminary Aircraft Design
2000
With the increasing size of modern, conventional transport aircraft aeroelastic effects have become more important for the development of new safe and competitive aircraft. This was the motivation to improve the modelling and analysis capabilities of the in-house aircraft design tool of the Institut fuer Flugzeugbau und Leichtbau (IFL) to take into account the major aeroelastic effect as early as possible in the conceptual and preliminary design phase. Main emphasis was put on the development and implementation of advanced modelling capabilities and analysis methods for both structures and aerodynamics in the integrated Preliminary Aircraft Design and Optimisation Program (PrADO). The finite-element method was chosen for static and dynamic structural analyses. A similar level of a ccuracy in aerodynamic analysis is achieved by the implementation of the panel method HISSS. All the structural weight estimation and flight simulation routines are based on the r esults of these advanced ...

This paper describes a conceptual design and analysis of fuselage structure for A320 NEO (New Engine Option) aircraft by using Solidworks and ANSYS software as a design tool. Specific size, configuration arrangements, weight and performance and some commanality of features with existing A320 aircrafts are need to be considered in the design process. This conceptual design develops the first general size and configuration for a new A320 NEO aircraft fuselage structure. The model of the fuselage structure is then undergoing model analysis, linear buckling and fatigue life. In this paper structural and model analysis of A320 fuselage structure, we aim to learn the process to solve many engineering problems with the help of a solver commonly known as SPARSE directs solver which is the default solver in ANSYS without preparing the prototype model and caring the actual experiments.
Structural and Modal Analysis of Fuselage
2017
The conceptual design of fuselage structure for an aircraft by using CAD software (CatiaV5) as the design tool. Specific size and performance, the number of competing designs and the commonality of features with existing aircraft are factors need to be considered in the design process. This conceptual design develops the first general size and configuration for aircraft fuselage structure. The model of the fuselage structure is then undergoing engineering simulation programmed which is based on the finite element method. Structural and modal analysis were performed using stringers and bulk head of a fuselage. A cylindrical shell is assumed as the design space and aerospace standard pay loads were applied on the fuselage with wing attachments as constraints. Then topological optimization is done using Finite Element (FE) based software (Hypermesh). This optimization results in the structural concept design which satisfies all the design constraints using minimum material.
