The need to better equip Business Education students with skills for self-employment on graduation necessitated this study on SMEs managers' rating of accounting and personal skills needed by the graduates for entrepreneurship development in Anambra State. Two research questions guided the study and four null hypotheses were tested. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population consisted of 339 SMEs managers registered with the Anambra State Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The proportionate stratified random sampling technique was used to draw a sample size of 90 SMEs managers from manufacturing and merchandise businesses while the entire population of 38 SMEs managers from service businesses was used for the study. Instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire with five-point rating scale which contained 15-items in two clusters. The instrument was validated by four experts. Cronbach alpha was used to determine the internal consistency of instrument, and an overall reliability coefficient value of 0.65 was obtained. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions and determine the homogeneity of the respondent mean ratings, while the ttest and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that accounting and personal skills were highly needed by Business Education graduates for entrepreneurship development in Anambra State. Gender and educational qualification do not significantly influence the respondents' mean ratings on needed personal skills but they did not on accounting skills. Based on the findings, it was concluded that unless graduates of Business Education adequately acquire accounting and personal skills, they will not contribute to entrepreneurship development in Anambra State as expected. It was, therefore recommended among others that, business educators should identify and used suitable teaching strategies to ensure that students adequately taught accounting and personal skills among others for entrepreneurship ventures upon graduation.
This study on assessment of entrepreneurial skills needed for self-employment by business education graduates in Delta State was necessitated by need to equip business education graduates with skills for entrepreneurship. The entire population of 377 was studied without sampling as the size was manageable. A 5-point rating scale questionnaire containing 30 items in three clusters which was validated by experts with grand reliability coefficient of 80 was used for data collection. Mean and standard deviation were used to analyse data to answer the research questions and determine the homogeneity or otherwise of the respondents views while the z-test was used to test the null hypotheses a. 0.05 level of significance. Findings indicate that business education graduates in Delta State highly need accounting and office technology and management skills but moderately need marketing skills for self-employment. Also gender did not significantly affect the respondents mean ratings on the extent business education graduates need accounting and office technology and management skills for self-employment but did on the extent they need marketing skills. Based on the findings, it was concluded that business education graduates in Delta State need entrepreneurial skills such as accounting, office technology and management, and marketing skills for self-employment. The study examined entrepreneurship education and acquisition of requisite skills among students of business management education in Adamawa State Polytechnic, yola. Adamawa State. Descriptive survey research design was employed for the survey. A total of235 Diploma II final year business management education students made up the population for the study. The sample of the study was 199. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guide the conduct of the study. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire with Cronbach reliability coefficient of 0.86. The significance of entrepreneurial competencies has been amplified in the past few decades due to the strategic role played by owners of business enterprises. It is also common knowledge that the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector has not been performing well in recent times. This has caused increase in the rate of business failures among the SMEs in the Nigerian context; likewise the large enterprises are also not spared in Nigeria. Therefore, this paper examined the impact of entrepreneurial competencies on the performance of SMEs with specific reference to Zaria local government area of Kaduna state in Nigeria. The paper made use of a survey research design. The data utilized for this study was obtained from primary source through the use of questionnaire. Descriptive statistics was used for analyzing the data, while multiple regression technique was employed which offers explanation on the relationship between a dependent variable and two or more explanatory variables. The statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 20 was utilised for the analysis of the data. The paper revealed that skills competencies have significant positive impact on the performance of SMEs in Zaria local government. It is therefore recommended that Government should equip current and future entrepreneurs with skills and competencies to make them self-reliant.

This paper examined the business education as a panacea for growth of SMEs and national development. The study basically assessed the relationship between SMEs and employment creation as a driving tool for national development as well as the role of business education in national growth and development. The study found that SMEs proffer solution to the lingering problem of poverty and unemployment, while business education plays a vital role in national development in areas of employment generation, industrial development, entrepreneurship strategy, and poverty reduction, promotion of the Nigeria economy, culture and value. The study identified unqualified teachers, obsolete technologies, the size of business classes and poor funding as main challenges of business education and recommended that government should properly and adequately fund business education through increased budgetary allocation and made compulsory at all levels of education with the use of appropriate technologies.
The main purpose of this study was to determine the entrepreneurial skills needed by business education students for self sustainability in Bayelsa State. The design adopted for the study was descriptive survey. The study was carried out in Niger Delta University, Bayelsa state. The population for the study comprised of four hundred and fifty (450) students in the department of Vocational and Technology Education studying business education. The total sample size of one hundred (180) business education students in Niger Delta University, Bayelsa state was randomly selected for the study. Based on the findings of this study, it could be concluded that entrepreneurial skills are required for effective business operation. Lack or absence of these skills affects graduates in embarking on any business venture. The entrepreneurial skills would enable the students to handle all types of documents for their customers and thereby meet their customers' satisfaction successfully. The skills could serve both as operational guidelines for those in the business as well as training package for new entrants. Based on the findings, the following recommendations were made: Business education students should endeavour to acquaint themselves with all the relevant skills necessary to create, and maintain customers' needs. The findings of this study should also be made available to skills acquisition centres as a training manual.
