Profil pasien karsinoma nasofaring dengan anemia yang dirawat di RSUP Sanglah Denpasar periode Januari 2017-Desember 2018 (original) (raw)

Introduction: Anemia is a complication that often occurs in patients with head neck malignancy, especially nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Anemia caused by cancer can occur as a direct effect of malignancy, can be as a result of the production of certain substances produced by cancer, or it can also be a result of cancer treatment itself. This study aim to find out the characteristics of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients with anemia treated in Sanglah General Hospital Denpasar from January 2017-December 2018. Method: Data is taken from the patient’s medical record, then recorded in the data collection sheet and then analyzed data. Result: This study involved 125 patients. There were 73 male patients (58.4%) and 52 females (41.6%), The majority of patients were 41- 50 years (31.2%). The most NPC stadiums were IVB and IVC as many as 31 people (24.8%). The most types of anemia were normochromic normocytic anemia as many as 88 people (70.4%). The results of the study can be used as a reference for conducting appropriate interventions to overcome anemia in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
