TP 1 ESTERILIZACION (original) (raw)

ESTERIFICACION

Comparative study among 2% glutaraldehyde, superoxidized water with neutral pH, and electrolyzed solution by ionic selectivity with neutral pH Abstract Objective: To compare the sterilizing efficacy in vitro of 2% glutaraldehyde (2% GA), of superoxidized electrolyzed water (SEW), and electrolyzed sterilizing solution by ionic activity (ESSIA). Setting: University of Veracruz. Design: Controlled clinical assay. Statistical analysis: Chi square. Material and methods: We prepared contaminating solutions with on E. coli, P. aeruginosa, and methicillin-resistant S. aureus, as well as with C. albicans at concentrations of 1 × 10 8 CFU per milliliter in a sterile saline solution, in which surgical instruments were immersed for 5 min and, thereafter, they were exposed to each of the sterilizing solutions for three different times, 7, 10, and 15 min. Results: After 15 min of immersion in the sterilizing solutions, all cultures assessed in the instruments treated with 2% GA and ESSIA were negative, in contrast to four positive cultures found in the SEWtreated instruments (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Instruments treated with 2% GA and ESSIA comply with sterile requirements.
