Angelology between Old and New Testament: between The Word, and the whispers. Purpose of angels after the Incarnation

This draft explores the evolving idea of angels as spiritual messengers and emanations of God in the Judeo-Christian thought. Despite the strongly monotheistic form of both Judaism and Christianity a lot of time and works have been dedicated to the notion of secondary spiritual beings, closer to humanity in the cosmic or celestial hierarchy, thus acting as mediators between the One God and man. In this work I attempt to discuss this relation with regard to the cosmic, historical event of the Incarnation of the divine Word of God (Logos), known as Jesus Christ.

The "Thrice-Holy": An Angelic Liturgical Formula in Jewish and Christian Traditions

In an Armenian parabiblical text dealing with events that traditionally took place from the Fall of the Angels before the Creation, and down to Moses and the Exodus ("Questionnaire"), one passage quotes Isa 6:3b as the praise pronounced by the Seraphs, the second of the nine angelic classes. The present article traces aspects of the varied development of this Isaianic formula in Armenian and other Christian traditions as well as in Jewish sources, up until its appearance in Questionnaire. This review reveals a complex interweaving of ideas about the celestial liturgy, angelology, numerology, and human liturgy, which have all been associated with the Isaianic formula. The ramifications of this biblical expression of unclear origin have immense implications.

The Angel of Yahweh: A Biblical Appellation for the Second Person of the Holy Trinity

The Angel of Yahweh is a prominent actor in the OT and exhibits many of the same qualities, functions, and attributes as the Son of God. This paper addresses some of the introductory considerations regarding the Angel of Yahweh and demonstrates that the Angel is both divine, personally distinct from God, and identified as the Son of God in the NT.
