Summary Comparing Normative Constellations in Music Education (original) (raw)

This chapter connects parts of nearly every chapter of the book "Comparing International Music Lessons on Video" regarding normative constellations. Comparing the constellations shows both, how practices within lessons are normatively connected with practices in other social fields, and that there are contradictions between countries concerning the reasons usually given for "good" activities in the classroom. This indicates a need for further research. In conclusion, I outline a model for comparative practical music education. The chapter draws on chapters by Andreas Lehmann-Wermser, Christiane Lenord, Lluisa Pardàs, Daniel Prantl, Christian Rolle, Simon Stich and Olle Zandén and mentions Philip Alperson, Wayne Bowman, Karl-Heinrich Ehrenforth, David Elliott, Martin Fautley, Lucy Green, Andreas Reckwitz, Thomas Regelsky, Bennett Reimer, Christoph Richter, Theodore Schatzki, Martin Seel and Jürgen Vogt.
