War PTSD: A VR Pre-Trial Case Study (original) (raw)
This study investigates the potential of Virtual Reality (VR) to enhance rehabilitation processes for patients dealing with difficulties such as PTSD. By immersing patients in a VR environment while engaging in physical activities like walking, the study explores how the manipulation of visual stimuli--specifically optic flow--can impact walking speed and recovery outcomes. Initial findings indicate that there are discrepancies in the perceived pace of optic flow relative to actual walking speed on a treadmill, which could influence the effectiveness of VR interventions in rehabilitation.
