Eren, Z. (2020). Complexity Leadership. (Ed. Ozgür Demirtas and Mustafa Karaca). A Handbook of Leadership Styles. Newcastle, UK: Cambridge Scholars Publishing, pp. 296-428. Abstract Complexity leadership was first formed by adapting the basic concepts of the sciences of complexity in the natural sciences to the organisational and management sciences. In this leadership approach, leadership is not only a leader in the orientation of human behaviour in the organisation but as a system function that enables a large number of semi-autonomous workers to unite collective performance in the context of organisational performance, innovation, adaptation and common collective characteristics, unlike traditional leadership approaches. It is assumed to occur. Although complexity leadership, based on complex science, chaos theory, network science, and computer and actor-based modelling, was first suggested by Marion and Uhl-Bien (2001), however, different approaches of complexity leadership emerged from time to time. In this section, firstly the basic concepts of complexity sciences are explained briefly, and then complexity leadership theory, essential characteristics, types and different approaches are discussed. Then, the Cynefin model, which appeared in the application dimension of complexity leadership, was examined and practical suggestions were given to the practitioners. Finally, leadership research has focused on the contributions of the science of complexity and future trends.
