The promotion of renewable energy technologies offers two advantages: energy diversification and hope of development for isolated communities that are not connected to electricity distribution grids. At the National University of Cordoba (UNC), small-scale hydraulic machines are being developed to be installed at locations in the Province of Cordoba, Argentina which could be developed locally. This work describes the characteristics of three micro turbines: Michell - Banki, Hélice and Turgo. The machines were designed according to theoretical criteria, then simplifications were proposed to make them technologically and economically accessible and then they were numerically modeled for final adjustments. At this moment, the first machine is already installed in the UNC Hydraulics laboratory; the second is being mechanized in a Technical Secondary School of the City of Carlos Paz (Córdoba, Argentina) and the third is in the numerical modeling stage
