Telling the story of the relationship between two differently charismatic personalities such as Umberto Zanotti Bianco (1889-1963) and Tanino De Santis (1928-2013) without the direct testimony of those who had the opportunity to know and frequent both of them may seem a little less than superfluous, as the narrator cannot benefit from what in the jargon is called 'first-hand data'. Nevertheless, this lack of secondary sources does not completely invalidate the possibility of attempting a chronological account, albeit partial and incomplete, of the relations between the two in the five years before the death of the Anglo-Piedmontese philanthropist: an account mainly based on elements deduced from some papers kept in the historical archive of ANIMI in Rome.

Nel mio intervento vorrei affrontare (o meglio tentare di affrontare) il complesso rapporto intercorso fra Pietro Aretino e il suo più giovane concittadino, Giorgio Vasari.
Tra il 1824 e il 1858 diversi scambi epistolari furono intrattenuti da Costanzo Gazzera (1779-1859), segretario dell’Accademia delle Scienze di Torino, con tre membri della famiglia Champollion: il “Decifratore” dei geroglifici Jean-François (1790-1832), suo fratello Jacques-Joseph (1778-1867) e uno dei figli di quest’ultimo, Aimé (1812-1894). La pubblicazione delle 101 lettere che compongono questi carteggi getta luce sulla nascita della scienza egittologica e, più in generale, sul vivace clima culturale europeo dell’epoca. https://www.olschki.it/libro/9788822266569
