In the fast changing world media too has evolved especially in the last five years and technology undoubtedly has been the driving force that is influencing people’s live manifold. Gone are the days when Doordarshan and Radio along with print were the only source of information for the people of India. Internet boom has perpetually changed the media scenario as well as the political landscape. With the advent of Facebook that has been capturing the imagination of the net savvy since its inception has lately been receiving stiff competition from Twitter, WhatsApp and Blogs to name the few. Therefore, needless to say that Indian political class in order to ensure wider reach and simultaneously to keep a tab on the technology driven nation has to go through metamorphosis and hence, no surprise that social media is increasingly becoming the most preferred platform for the Indian politicians to establish unswerving communication with the mango people. Top guns of BJP like Sushma Swaraj and Narendra Modi are the leading torches whose comments on Twitter and Facebook Create ripples and Kapil Sibbal and Shashi Tharoor of INC are also not lagging behind in terms of followers online. Consequently, other regional party leaders have also joined the social media bandwagon. According to the latest estimates the active Internet users in India has already touched 205 million mark; a substantial 40 percent increase from the corresponding year. According to another study, by the end of 2014, Internet user’s base in India will reach 243 million marks. Interestingly, in terms of user base rural pockets outshined the Internet users in the urban pockets. The aforesaid figures paint a very rosy picture that people of India are increasingly becoming net junkies and hence, no wonder that why Indian political class is going the Internet route. Unarguably, Print media dominated the Indian political scenario for the longest time but with satellite channels making their foray into the entertainment scene the state of affairs changed and of late social media has been fast becoming the flavor of the season. Indian Politicians who for the longest time were reluctant to adapt to the changes finally succumbed to the changing times to stay relevant in the mainstream politics and moreover to garner votes and trust of the voters who plausibly want to strike direct channel of communication before casting their votes. BJP and INC and other national parties acknowledging the potential of the media in reaching out to the youngsters who without commotion is the future of the country have been leaving no stone unturned to grab the attention of the tech savvy voters and therefore, have dedicated teams of technocrats, strategists and content developers who work 24X7 online to keep their respective parties ahead in the game. In the light of the fact, it’s not hyperbole to say that in coming years also social media would unequivocally rule the roost.
Social Media users in India: A Futuristic Approach

Social media by the way of being social is composed of society or persons interacting with each other. Social media is a social instrument of communication. In this present paper, an attempt was made to study the changing communication patterns of 21st-century tech-savvy generation in the Indian context. Given the pace, we are encountering new media as a democratic means of communication. It has been argued that new media has brought sea changes in intrapersonal, interpersonal, group and mass communication processes and content. Every facet of our life is touched by the social media today. The winners in this information age are empowered citizens, good governance, good products and good democratic practices. But social media has a flip side as well. Social media is the democratization of information, transforming people from content readers into publishers. It is a shift from a broadcast mechanism, one-to-many, to a many-to-many model, rooted in conversations between authors, people and peers. This study found that Indian social network users steeply growing at moderate rate side by side college students more indulge with it.
A STUDY ON THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA AMONG TAMIL NADU YOUTHS
The younger generation is fond of social media and networking. At the same time the elders are always cautioning them about the use of social media. Technological advancements is booming rapidly from year to year, and the younger generations are the ones caught in this rapid change. Today social media and the advent of the cyber world around us have led to youngsters being immersed in it. There is growing concern on how it affects their life. Today, social media and networking is a term that everyone knows. Even the most remote areas of theworld youngsters have at least heard of Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Whatsapp, Instagram, Blog, YouTube etc., and are probably using them on aregular basis. Social network sites (SNSs) now popularly useSocial media facilitate and the development of online social networks by connecting a user's profile with those of other individuals and/or groups. Social media are computer-mediated technologies that allow the creating and sharing of information, ideas, career interests, pictures videos, and documents other forms of expression via virtual communication and networks. In Tamil Nadu the impact of social media is very high among the young generation. Due to the use of the social media and networking the youngsters made tremendous contribution during the Chennai flood. During the Jallikattu issue, the social media and networking brought millions of people into the street to fight for the cause. At least one person per family participated in the state wide agitation and finally they got success. Social media and networking today consists of thousands of social media platforms, all serving the same purpose but in a slightly different manner. Of course, some social media platforms are more popular than others, but even the smaller ones get used by a portion of the population because each one caters to a very different type of person. As social networking becomes more popular among older and younger generations, sites such as Facebook and YouTube gradually undermine the traditionally authoritative voices of news media. In addition, social media began to be one of the ways in which internet marketers and website owners would boost the visibility of their websites. The benefits of social media marketing for business began to become quite clear to business owners large and small. Social media bookmarking became quite popular and there were services that would bookmark a post or a website across dozens or even hundreds of social media services.

Media is the reflection of our society and it depicts what and how society works. Media, either it is printed, electronic or the web is the only medium, which helps in making people informed. It also helps to entertain the public, inform people and make them aware of current affairs. The media has become our society's voice today. There are a host of media outlets that have, more eloquently, inspired the thoughts of the younger generation and other parts of our society. The purpose of the study is to examine the function and effectiveness of the media at the time of demonetization. The main objective of the paper is to research the role of the media in awarding demonetization and its consequences to individuals. The research would help to study the nature of the media in disseminating knowledge on critical topics and how people are educated about current events.

With changing times, people are changing the way they connect with each other and receive information. In present times, people are connecting with each other anytime anywhere with the help of Social Networking Sites. Considering this change in the medium, traditional media, too, is adapting to the change, in order to connect with its audience and expand its reach. Theorists like Steven Chaffee and Miriam Metzger have observed that Internet has brought a decline in the traditional media agenda-setting and shift from elite power due to increased access and greater choice is seen post 2001. As the internet is becoming increasingly omnipresent, the standpoint of media as living and social environment is even more topical. A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF INDIAN SOCIAL MEDIA DYNAMICS

Social media, a term that collectively represents the set of most dynamic media platforms in the contemporary world, constitutes the websites or application-based platforms that allows users to participate with their own content or by viewing others’ posts. Subject to its encompassing and expanding nature, social media has been able to gain traction among countless people, with the number growing exponentially with each passing day. Over the past decade in India, social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp have become avenues for people to express their opinions. Some such expressions are controversial and lead to social disorder. The spread of certain social media messages led to communal disharmony in the recent past as well. Fake news and viral messages also made the Indian government intervene and take measures. This research paper throws light on a few of the prominent cases from India, where social media played key roles in creating social disorder. The researcher used the case study method to draw an association between multiple cases and the imposition of the new Information Technology regulations by the Indian government. The paper identifies the impact of social media on the social dynamics of India.
