Website Quality Evaluation Methodology Universal Star: 1st point – “Content”
2020
The Internet continues to grow at a fast pace with over 1.5 billion websites in 2019 as compared with only one in 1991. The emergence of enormous websites of various complexities and types makes assessing the quality of these sites a vastly important, difficult and complicated task. With this concern, the current paper proposes a novel approach for website assessment by developing a new Website Quality Evaluation Methodology Universal Star (WQEMUS) with a theoretical and empirical basis. It became possible through the employment of the grounded theory methodology that enables relevant concepts to emerge from data. To improve the reliability and validity of the findings, an extensive literature review, in-depth and qualitative interviews, and a user evaluation survey were conducted and associated together. In this way, the study presents the results of the selection and categorization of generic quality attributes for WQEMUS with a three-tier structure, consisting of top-level qualit...
A Study on Website Quality Models
The Purpose of this paper is to have an overview of various quality models to evaluate the usability of website. It focuses on quality characteristics, quality measurement and evaluation methods for a website. It also analyses about various web metrics which are used to assess the website performance. It also gives an insight about quality evaluation framework comprising quality measurement, characteristics, sub-characteristics and measurable indicators. It concludes with some of the limitations of quality evaluation methods.
A Method for Website Usability Evaluation: A Comparative Analysis
Graphical user interfaces design in software development process focuses on maximizing usability and the user's experience, in order to make the interaction for users easy, flexible and efficient. In this paper, we propose an approach for evaluating the usability satisfaction degree of a web-based system. The proposed method has been accomplished in two phases and implemented on an airlines website as a case study. In the first phase, a website usability test is implemented by a number of users, and then the results obtained are translated into charts for a final web-based system evaluation in the second phase. The results achieved were satisfactory, since the places where the weaknesses and gaps in the website are identified and recommended solutions to avoid them are drawn. The authenticity of the results have been confirmed by comparing them with user opinions acquired from a questionnaire, which proves the precision in which the website is rated.
In a previous paper the authors introduced a template for the evaluation of web sites. This was tested using a sample of a number of Greek companies' web sites and it proved to be useful enough as a general evaluation tool. Soon thereafter the authors realized the need to come up with a measurement and a metric system as a step ahead of that evaluation template. The WSEI (Web Site Evaluation Index) can be used not just to evaluate if a website is good or not, but also, how good it is especially when compared with other of similar quality.
Analysis of usability evaluation according to the quality standards
Revista de Tecnología Informática, 2020
This research provides a study of usability as a quality attribute of Web pages, using as a benchmark the requirements that must be followed under the International Organization for Standardization / International Electrotechnical Commission 25000. The methods used to carry out this process are studied, as well as the description of the aspects to be considered for evaluation thereof. It carried out a review of the literature on software tools for measuring the usability of Web pages and disadvantages. The methodology that can be used is determined to perform the corresponding evaluation process and the results are established using a practical case.
A hybrid approach to measure design improvement factor of website
2015
Software Engineering is the major activity of Information Technology. We can engineer the various types of end user applications such as games, spread sheets, websites with the help of Software Development Life Cycle. Different types of principles to asses such as Usability, efficiency, reliability, cost, risk, economic value are applied to above mentioned applications. Usability is the quality measure of a user's interaction with a product. When this product is website its termed as web usability. It is the quality attribute that assesses how easy user interfaces. It contributes to improve the design process. Web usability is an approach to make website easy to use for an end-user, without the requirement that any specialized training be undertaken. Website design is the key issue, because how the end user experiences the design is the key to acceptance. There are several usability principles mentioned in the literature but all these principles depend upon the application domai...
