Knowledge, Attitude and Practice towards Prevention COVID-19 Outbreak among University of Hargeisa Students

BACKGROUND: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a global public health problem and has evolved to become a pandemic crisis around the world, which is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome, coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). In response to this serious situation, COVID-19 was declared as a public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization (WHO) on January 30 and called for collaborative efforts of all countries to prevent the rapid spread of COVID-19.Somaliland reported the territory's first two cases of coronavirus on TuesdayMar 31, 2020. Health officials in the capital, Hargeisa, said samples taken from two individuals-a local man who visited Britain and a Chinese man-had tested positive for COVID-19. METHOD:A cross-sectional online survey was conducted fromMay to July 2020 among 270 Participants University of Hargeisa students using the Google form platform. Considering the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice towards Prevention COVID-19 pandemic situation, we collect data using popular social media networks (i.e., Facebook, WhatsApp). P value analyses were used to explore the collected data on KAPand sociodemographic factors. RESULT: The level of knowledge, attitude and Practice towards Prevention COVID-19 Outbreak among university of Hargeisa students was goodAll students they have adequate knowledge that 100% they heard a disease termed Coronavirus, also 97.8% they respond that the cause of Coronavirus is virus and 90.4% of respond that Direct transmission during coughing, Touching surfaces contaminated with the virus, Consuming milk and meat of infected animals All of the above are cause of disease and 98.9% respond that High temperature,Cough sore throat blocked nose and Difficulty of breathingAll of above are the symptoms of Coronavirus. Respondents were in a positive attitude and the survey revealed that 91.9% of participants agree that the Coronavirus disease is dangerous, and 94.4% had more frequent practices such as washing hands often, Avoiding touching the eyes, nose and mouth, throwing the tissues in the trash after use, using masking to cover my nose in crowded places, All of the above regarding COVID-19 prevention. The p value is constant because all students they have adequate knowledge of coronavirus as its pandemic disease. Conclusion: students have adequate knowledge, attitude and Practice (KAP) towards Prevention COVID-19 Outbreak Thus, there is a need for public health educational interventions andalso government awareness programs such as order rules and guidelines tocontrol and prevent of coronavirus.

Knowledge, attitude and perception of University students toward COVID-19 pandemic

Background: An increasing rate of COVID-19 cases throughout the world has increased the need to investigate the knowledge, attitude, and perception (KAP) of university students toward the COVID-19 pandemic to prevent its rapid spread as public cooperation and awareness regarding prevention is the only way to deal with this pandemic. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted in Pakistan in April 2020. Data was collected by Google statistics and percent reliability was calculated through SPSS. Results: The number of respondents n=678, out of which 443(65.2%) were female and 235(34.85%) were male. The perception of students regarding this disease is shown in a table in which 33.2% of students consider it very dangerous. 54.2% thought it moderately dangerous. 62.38% of students consider muscle pain and 73.59% of students consider throat pain as a clinical presentation of COVID-19. 80.7% of students thought that exposure to a suspected case of COVID-19 serves as a means of acquiring COVID- 19 infection. The most effective measure of prevention comes out to be hand washing and covering face during coughing and sneezing. The main cause of the spread is a lack of public awareness and cooperation. Social media campaigns are an effective means of educating students about quarantine and controlling its rapid spread. Conclusion: Researchers concluded that It’s the need of the hour to increase awareness related to protective hygienic measures, rapid spread, and providing reliable approaches through social media campaigns to manage this pandemic. We believe that students should be involved in educating their surrounding society.

Knowledge and Practice towards COVID-19 among Students of Al-Bayan University

Introduction: On 12 March 2020, world health organization (WHO) declared that COVID-19 was a global pandemic when more than million humans were infected in more than 200 countries in less than four months. To limit its spread, WHO recommended preventive measures such as hand washing frequently, social distancing, and face mask wearing. Public knowledge and practice towards the disease is important. Aim of study: We assess the level of knowledge and practices towards COVID-19 among students in Al-Bayan University. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted to gather information regarding the COVID-19 related knowledge and practices among undergraduates. This survey was conducted between October 10 till October 15,2020. Results:351 students were participated from medical and non-medical colleges by completing the questionnaire online. The overall correct answer rate of the knowledge questionnaire was 85.71% and 86.22% of them practicing preventive measures according to WHO guidelines and instructions of ministry of health(MOH). There were no significant differences in knowledge and practices between medical and non-medical. Conclusion: The students have moderate knowledge and appropriate practices towards COVID-19, this indicates the success and the efficacy of the of campaigns and the advertisements announced by WHO and the local MOH.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the level of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) knowledge and attitude among university students. Design: A cross-sectional was conducted to collect the knowledge and attitude of university students about COVID-19. Currently registered undergraduate and postgraduate students from four independent universities in the northern part of Jordan were recruited. Materials and Methods: Online questionnaire was sent to participants during April 2020. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS. Background: The numbers of infections and death by COVID-19 have continued to rise worldwide and preventive practice has remained to be one of the most effective ways to prevent it. We conducted this study to survey the knowledge, attitude, perception and practice of university students during the early stage of the pandemic in Bangladesh. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study with 305 students from Rajshahi University, conducted between March 11 and March 19, 2020. Aim: The aim of this study is to assess the knowledge as well as attitude towards the COVID-19 pandemic between healthcare professional as well as pubic or non-medical staff. Method: A cross sectional study was conducted between three months January 2020 to March 2020 at different Hospitals. The data was collected by the implementing some sampling strategy and also by the questionnaire regarding knowledge, attitude as well as preventive practices in the healthcare professional, non medical workers and public. There are different statistical methods are used to determine the results such as t-test as well as ANOVA. Results: There are almost 300 people participate in this study including healthcare workers, non-healthcare workers and pubic. The results show that most of the people have a good and efficient knowledge regarding COVID-19 and their attitude is quiet positive. There are almost two third of the participants well known of the mode of transmission, treatment as well as isolation period for the person if had doubt about this virus and also apply or use different preventive measures such as wear mask when go out and to wash the hands when come home and also stay at home. Thus it is determined that there is a negative correlation between the knowledge as well as attitude scores. Conclusion: It is concluded that most of the heath workers, non-health workers and public is well known about the knowledge, attitude and done preventive practice about the COVID-19. In some participants the level of knowledge is not proper thus there is a need to provide more information by starting some campaign.

Knowledge, Perception and Attitude of the Undergraduate Healthcare Students Relative to COVID-19 Infection at a Teaching Institute of Karachi

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. Efforts are being made all over the world to raise awareness in order to prevent the disease from spreading. The purpose of this study was to assess undergraduate healthcare students' attitudes, perceptions, and knowledge of COVID-19 disease. We conducted a cross- sectional survey in which a questionnaire with 12 questions was transformed online on Google forms and distributed online to healthcare students. Data was collected between May and June of 2021. The convenience sampling technique was used, resulting in a sample size of 926 people. A total of 926 individual questionnaires were evaluated. Introduction: Knowledge of COVID-19 and the practices towards the prevention of COVID-19 are crucial especially among health sciences students who are required to do a clinical placement at a hospital. This study aimed to assess the knowledge on COVID-19 and practice of COVID-19 prevention among university students. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted via a web-based survey. A total of 273 students of the medical, dental and health sciences programs were invited to participate in this study using stratified random sampling methods. A set of questionnaires developed by WHO training material for identification, prevention, response, and control of COVID-19 was used. Results: Most of the respondents were fourth year students (37.4%) age of 22 years old. The mean of total knowledge score was 23.14 ± 1.50. The present study aimed to assess the knowledge and attitude of university students about the new evolving coronavirus COVID-19. In this connection, the study was carried out among the students of SKUAST-K. A descriptive survey method was used to conduct the study. Under the jurisdiction of SKUAST-K, Shalimar, Srinagar, Faculty of Fisheries was selected by purposive sampling technique.
