The quality of television news in Indonesia

This research aims to explore the watching patterns of the people of Indonesia with a specific focus on how they consume news programs on television. Indonesian democracy condition is draining much information energy every year. The war for information among broadcasting institutions has stirred worry among the general public regarding the quality of the content broadcast by national television stations. Virtually no medium is safe from the touch of politics, and news programs, in particular, are often highly political. Due to the urgency of this research to measure the quality of programs, not the number of viewers, the informants of this study are industry experts and academics. Their knowledge, experience, and insight into the television industry make them exceptionally qualified to assess television programs' quality critically. Public Perception of Indonesian Television Broadcasting Programs Quality

The public's interest in television programs is raised due to their function to increase education and protect the country from conflict or disharmony. According to the function of media, the media has three purposes: as a watchdog, a public forum, and media for public participation. The media also has the assignment to critique the government if they need to be released good regulations for the public. Indonesia Media Broadcasting Regulations In An Accelerated Innovation, Creativity & Development (Case Study In North Sumatra)

There is a significant need to develop a Media Broadcasting Regulation, especially in the context of local shareholders for TV networks and local TV in Indonesia. The law is expected to regulate all about TV's programs and the Operational Lisence. The study which did at North Sumatra, and data's collected by focuss group discussion among the Local TV's owners and Board of Communication & Information Technology Ministery in Medan, showed that there were many problems arise regarding the regulations of TV's operations. The Alocation of advertising portion between Local and National Television is one of the crucial problem. Facing the Digitalization era, government should revise the regulation to build a fair bussiness in broadcasting media. Another problems were found that the Ministery of Communication and Information Technology as a regulator seems acted too dominant, the rules was made without Local Government's involvement, even they have different need and interest in Media Broadcasting Policy. So far, broadcasting modernization should be submitted to Local Government regulations because of the rest regulation had lead all the economic benefit flow to central government, while local goverment did not get anything. Others problems were about the TV's content, its should not just be shown in the local TV but also must be produced in its region using the labor from the local area and consider the local communities's value of life.

Significant consistency in content of primetime news programs on public and commerical TV stations in BiH

The subject of monitoring and this analysis were primetime news programs on BHT, the umbrella BiH broadcaster, and NTV Hayat, which has the best quality news program among commercial stations. In the monitored period, we analyzed eight primetime news programs on BHT, which are broadcast every day at 19.00 hrs. On the other hand, we analyzed seven primetime editions of Hayat's News at 7, which are broadcast every work day and on Sunday at 19.00 hrs, plus one edition of a special news program called Centralni dnevnik (Central News) or CD, whose author is Senad Hadzifejzovic.

Mapping the Convergence Trends of Television Broadcasting Media in Indonesia

This research will analyze the media convergence with the rapid development of the existing equipment in the broadcasting system of the television station in Indonesia. The digitalisation and advancement of communication and information technology have a tremendous impact on the emergence of a new paradigm and therefore, will also change the overall perspective of humans about various problems that occur around them. With the emergence of digital channels, the analogue media cannot support the existing system independently and require the integration of technologies in the discovery of new platforms. PRODUCING TELEVISION PROGRAMS RELEVANT TO ALL MULTI-CULTURAL SOCIETY IN MALAYSIA

Like many countries, television enjoys a special interest among the society, even though information and communication technologies (ICT) have invaded the country. In 2010, the coverage of TV is about 75 percent of the population as compared to 77 percent of radio and 56 percent of newspapers. In the same year it was reported that adults spend 3.5 hours of watching TV per day as compared to 3 hours listening to radio and 2.4 hours engaging with Internet. The objectives of this paper are to examine the number of programs that were produced by TV stations in a week, and to identify the category of the programs produced by the stations. Data for this research was collected from published TV programs of the Free to Air (FTA) TV stations for a period of one week. Among others, the elements of TV program recorded were program genre, language, origin, duration of program, time of broadcast and target audience. The findings showed that each TV station has their own interest, target and focus in selecting and broadcasting TV programs to their audiences. Even though each TV station has fragmented their audience according to the language of TV programs, it is believed that the government's effort to promote a harmony life in a multi-cultural society through TV programs is successful.

News Broadcasting and Journalists – A case study of Telugu Television News channels

Television is visual platform. India has the highest number of news channels in the world. After globalization, organizations identified the potentiality of broadcast industry. Today we have more than 900 satellite channels in India. Every year number increases. News Broadcaster production cost and increased Competition, depleting advertising revenue make the Broadcaster to think over ways to reduce production cost. The crisis is coming from the fact that the business model has been broken for a period of time, substantially because in distribution, broadcaster doesn't get subscription money, but they are paying carriage fees. Competition among news broadcaster led to decrease job satisfaction level of Television journalists. This paper tries to emphasis the prevailing situation in News broadcasting and journalist's conditions.
