Fountains which carry certain sculptural values in the style of the period they were built are elements of the urban and rural landscape. The subject of this article is the fountains in the rural settlements of the Kuseyr Plateau. Fountains identified in the Plateau within the scope of "Turkish and Islamic Period Surveys in Hatay Province", are examined in terms of architecture and art history.The aim of this study is to contribute to the cultural inventory of Turkey, to analyse the rural settlement patterns, to reveal the place of Kuseyr examples in Turkish-Islamic era fountains. The fountains of Kuseyr Plateau are built in the residential areas, in the fields and on the road routes. Depending on the topography, most of them are situated on the slopes and supported by retaining walls. The essantial architectural formation of the fountains is determined by a small number of segmental and round arched but mainly pointed arched niches in one face of a rectangular prismatic block, rarely included ornaments. The fountains built in the 19th and 20th centuries reflect the characteristics of simple, classical Turkish fountains. Structures and the stylistic features of the fountains show parallelism with the architectural development in the region.
