Teacher Education Graduates' Performance as Predictor of Licensure Examination for Teachers Results

JPAIR Multidisciplinary Research, 2015

High percentage of passers in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) indicates the competence of the Teacher Education Program (TEP) graduates of State Colleges and Universities. Licensure tests are usually one of the several criteria necessary to qualify an entry into the teaching profession. This government examination is designed to identify professionals who have the desired level of competency to teach basic education. The study determined the extent of implementation of the TEP of Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) in relation to the academic achievement and performance of graduates in the LET. The descriptive correlational method specifically documentary analysis, with the mean, Pearson Product Moment (PPM) and ANOVA were used in this study. Findings revealed that the Teacher Education Program of CHMSC was well implemented. This concludes that the Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEED) group showed greater confidence in academics, indicating the need to enhan...

Examining the Factors of Licensure Examination for Teachers Performance for Program Strategy Enhancement

– Passing the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) is the ultimate focus of tertiary education institutions in the Philippines to meet the demand of local and global communities. Hence, various strategies are conducted to increase the likelihood that the prospect will happen. With this, the current study determines the predictors of LET performance of the 146 Bachelor of Secondary Education graduates that could serve as basis for enhancing program strategies for a better LET rating. A descriptive correlational method through the analysis of registration data on LET, grade weighted average, college admission test (CAT) scores, and course audit scores was conducted. Descriptive statistics and correlational tests were employed in the analysis of these data. Results showed that low LET performance is influenced by low performances in academics and admission test, and limited course audit units taken. Admission test performance, however, does not predict LET performance in Major. On the other hand, course audit performance can only forecast licensure exam scores in Major. Hence, to increase LET performance, the program should consider benchmarking from LET performing institutions, choose the right faculty to teach a course, secure the validity and/or reliability of instructional materials and assessment tools with LET competencies, strictly implement the admission and retention policy, and assess regularly the efficacy of the course audit in all areas.

Teacher Education Graduate's Academic Performance in Relation to Licensure Examination for Teachers

Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal , 2023

The study investigates the correlation between teacher education graduate's academic performance and Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) rating. The study employs a descriptive design. Data on academic performance was retrieved from the Registrar's office while the LET ratings were obtained from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Cebu City office. The researcher used Mean and Percentages in describing the performance, and Pearson Product Moment Coefficient Correlation in determining the significant of the relationship between academic performance and LET rating. The study revealed that the Physical Science and Filipino Graduates' academic performance did not correlate with their LET performance rating while English and Filipino graduates obtained significant results. Hence, the graduates' academic performance does not indicate graduates' success in the LET.

The Influence of Faculty Members’ Educational Attainment on the Performance in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) among State Universities and Colleges in the Philippines

Journal of Curriculum and Teaching

This quantitative study employed descriptive-correlational research design to analyze the influence of faculty members’ educational attainment on the performance in the licensure examination for teachers (LET) among 112 state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the Philippines. Results showed that almost half of the faculty members are bachelor’s degree holders, about two-fifths of them have master’s degree, and more than one-tenth are doctoral degree holders. The SUCs had an overall passing percentage higher as well as majority of the SUCs performed higher than the national passing rate. There is a significant inverse relationship between the educational attainment of faculty with bachelor’s degree and LET performance, in which higher proportion of faculty members with bachelor’s degree tends to result to a lower passing percentage. In contrast, the educational attainment of faculty with doctoral degree has significant direct relationship to LET performance, in which higher proport...

Academic Predictors of the Licensure Examination for Teachers' Performance of the Rizal Technological University Teacher Education Graduates

One of the pressing concerns of the College of Education of the Rizal Technological University is the passing percentage of its graduates in the Licensure Examination for Teachers; thus, the researchers made this study to determine if the academic grades of the students are a predictor of their performance in the boar examination. With this study, findings revealed that when the board performance is correlated with the three components of the academic subjects there is a moderate correlation with the general education, while the correlation between professional education and specialization showed indicate slight correlation, thus, there is a linear relationship between the three academic subjects and the overall rating of LET. Likewise, it discloses that there is a very weak relationship to the performance of the students in the said exam and their academic grades. It also shows that there is a slight variation of Licensure Examination performance that could be accounted for through the combined linear effects of the predictor variables. However, in spite the very weak relationship, the computed coefficient gives a positive interpretation that in every one unit increase in the predictors there will be an increase in the overall Licensure Examination Performance for Teachers.

School profile and licensure examination performance of Teacher Education graduates in Northern Philippines

2020

Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) in the Philippines are making efforts to improve their performance in Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). Curricular programs are subjected to accreditation and teachers unceasingly participateinprofessional development endeavors. This descriptive research determined the school profile (accreditation status and educational attainment of faculty) and LET performance of Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) graduates from the seven (7) campuses of a public university in Northern Philippines. Comparison of graduates' LET performance when grouped according to school profile was investigated. Results show that BEEd graduates disclosed a dismal rating since their LET mean performance both on General Education and Professional Education are below the passing mark. Whereas, BSEd graduates have passing marks on General Education and Professional Education except for Major. Relative to school profile, graduates of TEI with higher accreditation status have significantly better LET performance than those enrolled in TEI with lower accreditation status. Thus, subjecting curricular programs to accreditations implies better passing rate in LET. Moreover, graduates of TEI where majority of faculty members are doctorate degree holders have significantly higher LET rating compared to those graduates of TEI with teachers dominated by master's degree holders. This finding implies that teachers' educational attainment contributes to the success of graduates in LET. With these findings, it is recommended for TEIs to continue subjecting curricular programs to accreditations and investing on teachers' professional development.
