Based on these results in part at Batanghari Senior High School students have a poor attitude towards the learning of phys...

Influence of Selected Factors on Students' Attitude towards Physics in Public Secondary Schools

The study investigated students' attitude towards selection of Physics in secondary schools. Questionnaires with items set to capture data on the study objectives were administered to three hundred and sixty one students selected proportionally and randomly from forty two public secondary schools. Physics teacher in each school was involved. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive parameters and few inferential statistics. Physics teacher as a role model and perceived subject abstractness by the students had significant influence on students' attitude towards selection of Physics in Meru Central Sub County. It was concluded that, Physics teacher as a role model and perceived subject abstractness by the students played an important role on students' attitude towards selection of Physics.

Attitude in learning physics among form four students / Norezan Ibrahim, Mohd Aiman A. Zakiang and Siti Maftuhah Damio

2019

Physics is considered as the most challenging area of learning within the field of science, and it usually magnetises fewer students compared to other science related subjects from secondary school to university. Generally, students tend to have a negative attitude towards physics presumably because they lack interest in the subject and the syllabus itself. This research is carried out to study the learning attitude in physics and challenges towards learning force and motion among Form Four students in Klang. A total of 200 secondary schools students who are taking physics subject from six schools participated in the study. A descriptive research design was employed using survey method to analyse the students' attitude towards learning physics. The findings on the learning attitudes test showed majority of the students have favourable attitudes in learning physics. However, majority of students hold poor score in physics test, probably due to low science grade obtained by students in 'Penilaian Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3' (PT3). Another finding from the data revealed that the nature of topic was found to be the most predominance challenge in learning force and motion among the participants. The findings are beneficial as they can serve as a stepping stone in overcoming the underlying sources of difficulty that brought to you by CORE View metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.uk

Relationship of Attitude with Student Learning Environment Toward Physics

2020

The purpose of this study was to determine the description of student attitudes and learning environments towards physics and the relationship of student attitudes and learning environments towards physics at SMAN 6 Batang Hari. This type of research is quantitative using a correlational design with the instrument used is a questionnaire. The subjects of this study were 156 students from SMAN 6 Batang Hari. Quantitative data analysis techniques use descriptive and inferential statistics. The description for attitude is categorized as sufficient. While for the learning environment that is categorized good. The relationship between students' attitudes and learning environment towards physics is in the strong category with a pearson correlation of 0.719. Based on the results of SMAN 6 Batang Hari, the relationship between students' attitudes and the learning environment is strong for learning physics. Thus, positive student attitudes will be formed through a conducive learning ...

Development of Physics Attitude Scale (PAS): An Instrument to Measure Students’ Attitudes Toward Physics

The Asia-Pacific Education Researcher, 2017

The present study is focused on the detailed description of Physics Attitude Scale (PAS) to measure students' attitudes toward physics. The development of this new instrument involved extensive interviews with both the experts as well as the students. This was followed by expert reviews and pilot testing of the instrument. The duly revised draft was used to collect responses from 624 students, aged 15-18 from Government Model Senior Secondary Schools, India. The factor analysis carried out on the resulting data revealed that the final form of the Physics Attitude Scale consists of five dimensions: Enthusiasm toward Physics, Physics Learning, Physics as a Process, Physics Teacher, and Physics as a Future Vocation. The content validity of the scale has been confirmed by the close agreement of experts on the statements. The reliability analysis showed that the scale consists of internally consistent items for each dimension. These findings demonstrate that the Physics Attitude Scale (PAS) possesses robust psychometric properties. It has been further found that a positive correlations exist between (a) enthusiasm toward physics and physics learning; (b) enthusiasm toward physics and physics as a process; (c) enthusiasm toward physics and physics as a future vocation; and (d) physics teacher and physics learning. Thus, the newly developed PAS can be used as an effective instrument by researchers and teachers to assess students' attitudes toward physics.

A STUDY OF SCIENTIFIC ATTITUDE, TEACHING EFFECTIVENESS AND PHYSICS ACHIEVEMENT AMONG PHYSICS SENIOR SECONDARY STUDENTS

IMPACT-Journals, 2018

The global documented aim of secondary science teaching is to develop and augment rationality, objectivity, open-mindedness, curiosity, scientific temperament, etc. The development of such qualities helps in the development of a major quality as scientific attitudes (SAs). And a teacher plays vital roles in not only cognitive but non-cognitive developments among the students as well. The present work was aimed at finding the impact of teaching effectiveness (TE) and SAs over physics achievement (PA) of senior secondary students. The study utilized 309 senior secondary students in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India. The results show good significant correlations among TE & SA and TE & PA, but a weak correlation between SA & PA. And no gendered responses were reported among students SAs and experienced physics TE. While the multiple stepwise regression analysis does not establish SAs as a predictive variable of PA and only TE was found to have 18.3% of the total variance in students' PA scores.
