ATmega32 Controlled "Persistence of Vision" Display (original) (raw)

Persistence Of Vision Display-A Review

Persistence of vision technology has gained immense popularity in the field of electronics due to its wide range of applications and ease of usage. Persistence of vision (POV) refers to the phenomenon of the human eye in which an afterimage exists for a brief time. A POV display exploits this phenomenon by spinning a one dimensional row of LED's through a two dimensional space at such a high frequency that a three dimensional display is visible. The LED matrix is connected to the Raspberry Pi, which is fast & programmable credit card sized computer. The display is user-friendly when interfaced with a touch pad compatible with the Raspberry Pi. The touch pad ensures that no programming has to be done at a user level and so the device gives rise to a very new, hassle-free type of display devices.

PERSISTENCE OF VISION USING ARDUINO

Persistence of Vision (POV) Wands are a fun way to create interesting long exposure photographs and light displays. The wand consists of a single row of LEDs controlled by an Arduino Uno. When the wand is turned on it appears to be flickering in a random pattern, but if you move it quickly back and forth, you will see text or an image appear. This wand project is incredibly customizable, I've included all CAD files, firmware, build documentation, and schematics. Feel free to choose your own color LEDs, write personalized messages, and maybe even add something new to the project!

The purpose of this project is to design and implement a remote controlled persistence-of-vision (POV) display that will be able to display multiple patterns based on remote input. Persistence of vision (POV) refers to the phenomenon in which the human eye persist the image for 1/16th of a second even after the removal of image. A POV display exploits this phenomena by spinning a one dimensional row of LED's through a two dimensional space at such a high frequency that a two dimensional display is visible. The speed at which the LED's rotate is fast enough such that the human eye perceives a two dimensional image.

Construction, Implementation and Performance Evaluation of a Dot Matrix Display Device

FUDMA JOURNAL OF SCIENCES

The technology of displaying message is an important part of communication and advertisement. The work aimed at the construction, implementation and performance evaluation of a micro-controller based scrolling display system with Bluetooth interface. The work used the micro-controller (ATmega 328p) as the control component in the construction of the device which making the design of the device simple due to the addition of the input/output port on the microcontroller. A Bluetooth module was incorporated in the design which functions as the receiver of the message sent via Bluetooth. The LED display device mainly consisted of a Bluetooth Module and Microcontroller which receives the message, checks validity and displays the received information after necessary code conversion. Hospitals, banks, sport, stadium, airports, railway stations, education sectors and stock markets find this device a useful tool by prompting them to reflect many times on the scrolling lights, automatically di...
