Occupational health absolutely must be implemented in work, both informal and formal industries. Activities that can cause health problems are improper work attitudes such as sitting, standing, bending, squatting, walking, and others. Health problems related to work attitudes are complaints of low back pain (LBP). This type of research is a descriptive-analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. Research respondents are brick workers in Babatan Seluma Village with 60 workers. Data were obtained by interviewing the respondents' characteristics, years of service, work attitudes, and complaints of LBP. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between variables and the logistic regression test to determine the factors most at risk for the occurrence of complaints. Background: Low back pain is one of the serious health problems in communities. It is the third common cause for medical visits after upper respiratory tract and headache. Prevalence and Characteristics of Low Back Pain among Productive Age Population in Jatinangor

Background: Low back pain is one of the global health issues which prevalence is high among productive ages. It oftentimes corresponds with one's physical activity during work. The purpose of this study was to determine theprevalence and characteristics of low back pain among productive age population in Jatinangor, West Java, Indonesia. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted during the period of August to October 2014 in the three villages in Jatinangor, West Java, Indonesia. In order to determine the demographic data and history of low back pain in the last three months, about 1075 productive age populations were selected through validated questionnaire as the secondary data. These data consisting of 310 subjects were then described according to the pain characteristics and physical activity during work. Results: During three months of examination, s the prevalence of low back pain was 38.4%, with the average age 50-59 years old. Furthermore, about 22.3% subjects were indicated chronic low back pain. The most prevalent qseverity of the pain was dull pain (29.4%), followed with pins and needles pain (23.1%), As the intensity of the pain increased, there was a tendency of increasing interference in daily activities. A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY TO FIND THE KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICE OF LOW BACK PAIN AMONG FEMALES IN AND AROUND ANAND DISTRICT

Low back pain is defined a pain, muscle tension, or stiffness localised below the costal margin and above the inferior gluteal fold with or without referred or radicular leg pain (1).Back pain can be caused by a wide variety of factors. This includes structural problems of the back, inflammation, muscle and soft tissue injury, secondary response to other diseases or conditions, imbalances in body mechanics and psychological /social factors (2).Over 70 % of people in resource-rich countries will experience low back pain at some time in their lives(1).Considering the life time prevalence of 60% to 85%,it will eventually affect almost everyone during working life-men and women equally (3).In western countries life time prevalence of low back pain ranges from 15% to 45%(4).

PREVALENCE OF LOW BACK PAIN AMONG THE TEA GARDEN LABORERS

Background: LBP is a multi-factorial disorder which involves most active individuals of the society and leads to many social and economic problems. Objectives: To find out the number of tea garden laborer affected by LBP per hundred laborer to measure the severity of pain by using VAS scale, to identify the distribution of pain, to know the duration of pain, to identify the behavior of pain, to explore the socio-demography of the affected group, to determine the most common factors that are responsible for developing LBP among the tea garden laborer, to identify the available treatment received by the LBP affected tea garden laborer. Methodology: This is a ‘cross-sectional’ study. A Total 70 samples were selected conveniently for this study from the two selected area of Moulvibazar tea garden. Data were collected by using pretested mixed type of questionnaire. Descriptive statistic were used for data analysis which is focused through table, pie chart and bar chart. Results: This study shows that among all of the (70) participants 97.1% (n=68) participants had been suffered from LBP and 2.9% (n=2) had no LBP. Among the affected participants who were suffering from LBP, the severity of pain in VAS scale were moderate pain were in 84.3% (n=59) laborer, severe pain were 15.7% (n=11) laborer. Conclusion: The prevalence of LBP among the tea garden laborer and the possible risk factors for the LBP is vary among tea garden laborer and it’s sometimes depend on how long they work and sustained their poor posture.

In the absence of objective definition of work- relatedness; decision- making processes, assessments, investigations, treatment and rehabilitation on chronic back pain due to work had been challenging. BACKS questionnaire was designed to assist physicians in determining occupational low back pain among employees from the aspect of reliability and validity. Each identified employee with history of chronic back pain was given chronic back pain was given the BACKS Tool prototype to be filled in. Data was analyzed via stepwise linear regression to develop a temporary model for the BACKS Tool questionnaire. A total 220 respondents were included in the study. Work-related LBP is pain from the lower back that is related to work which can be clinically caused or exacerbated by work. Based on the initial survey, it is found that 70% of X taxi drivers experienced LBP. This study aims to determine the factors associated with LBP in taxi drivers X. This type of quantitative observational research, cross-sectional study design with a sample of 43 respondents. Data analysis used univariate, chi-square used bivariate analysis. Based on the results of the chi-square test, it showed that the variables associated with LBP were the length of work (p-value = 0.008). Occupational low back pain (LBP) remains the leading safety and health challenge for many industries. The present study was focused to evaluate the physical demands of the manual material handling task in terms of back pain to assess the potential risk of injury. This investigation measures the prevalence of low back pain of rice mill workers in Rudrapur block, District Udhamsingh Nagar, Uttarakhand. Low Back Pain, Pain Intensity, ADL Independency Level. The research aimed to reveal the dissimilarity of ADL independency on people with lower back pain (LBP) which varied from mild to moderate pain intensity. LBP means continuous pain which persists on the back side of the body span from lower ribs bone to coccyx bone and expand from upper back to the crotch. The research was comparing the level of independency in people with varied LBP intensity. The research conducted in Sobokerto, Ngemplak, Boyolali involving 50 respondents consisted of 25 respondents with mild pain intensity and 25 respondents with moderate pain intensity. Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) used as the research instrument to measure pain intensity and Barthel Index used as the tool to measure ADL independency level. The research designed is cross sectional and Mann Whitney U were used as the analytical method. The data were analyzed with the use of SPSS 16 for windows. P value obtained as 0.000 (< 0.05) troughs the analytical test of Mann Whitney U. The research depicts clear evidence of different level on performing ADL independency in people with LBP within mild and moderate pain intensity.

STUDY ON FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH CHRONIC LOW BACK PAIN IN WESTERN INDIA

Introduction: Low back pain is a leading cause of disability. It occurs in similar proportions in all cultures, interferes with quality of life and work performance, and is the most common reason for medical consultations. Few cases of back pain are due to specific causes; most cases are non-specific. Acute back pain is the most common presentation and is usually self-limiting, lasting less than three months regardless of treatment. Chronic back pain is a more difficult problem, which often has strong psychological overlay: work dissatisfaction, boredom, and a generous compensation system contribute to it. Methodology: This is a retrospective study. The study was conducted in private multispecialty hospital of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Data from April 2014 to March 2015 was analyzed. Permission was taken from the hospital authority to conduct the study and stringent confidentiality of data was maintained at all levels of the project. Result: We have analyzed data of 210 patients diagnosed with chronic low back pain. People between age of 36 years to 40 years were most common culprits. Among these, 82 (39.05%) were male and 128 (60.95%) were female. Among males, 65 (79.27) were overweight (BMI >= 25.00) and among females, 95 (74.22%) were overweight. Disc prolapse was most common diagnosis in both males and females. It was followed by fractures and Lumber spondylosis. Conclusion: Females were more affected by Lower back pain. People in age group of 36 years to 40 years were commonly affected. Disc prolapsed was most common the most common diagnosis.
