DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ONLINE CRIME REPORTING SYSTEM

In time past, the process of reporting crimes in the society (Nigeria) had involved going into any of the offices of the law enforcement agencies (e.g. Police, neighborhood corps) to make a report, which made anonymity next to impossible. But the advent of technology opened more avenues for reporting crimes; from telegraph, special radio communication, and dedicated phone lines to a more responsive and more pervasive technological application platforms (web and mobile software applications). This project develops an all-encompassing web platform that reports all manners of crimes, open to all members of the public, suggestive (search for entities), interpretative and enlightening. Online Crime Reporting System Project

The objective is to design and develop an application that will help to imp rove the efficiency and effectiveness of the police security measures in keeping criminal records. ABSTRACT The victims can file the FIR through the website under various sections. The user can send photo evidence if any online. There will be an 'SOS 'capability in which, the user can press a button and his/her location will be sent to the nearest Police station. There will be a separate component for the accident victims so that FIR can be registered fast and treatment can be started as soon as possible. In this current system, user's information will be kept confidential and only users complain will be forwarded to its nearest police station. Users complain number will be forwarded from the server side automatically. For identifying location and authentic person, concept of cookies and IP addressing has been used. To eliminate the location conflicts between police station, server will play a vital role. It will search the address table using IP address and forward message to that police location from where the message has been received. We intend to create a project which will help bridge the gap between the police department and the common man. 'Online FIR Registration and SOS system' project will have an app from where the users can file FIR against the offender under the various sections. The main site will be maintained by the admin (from the police) who will then notify the user if the FIR has been registered and the necessary action has been taken.

Design and Implementation of Online Crime Investigation System for Anonymous Person

Crime investigation system keeps track and maintains history about each and every case in the database which ultimately avoids manual and paper work. It is based on decentralized client-server architecture in order to facilitate independent functioning of all units. Here information flows from lower units to higher units and vice-versa. The project is built on multi-tier architecture. It provides quick access to data which is essential for effective prevention, control and detection of crime. It also helps decision-making and decision support processes. Crime investigation system is an intelligent decision support system that can assist human investigators by automatically constructing plausible scenarios. Some of the benefits of crime investigation system to existing system are quick retrieval of data, huge saving of time, proper deployment & utilization of manpower, cost reduction leading to saving in expenditure. It enables the police service to supervise and administer any incident and process related information by providing standardized processes and procedures to monitor and improve performance. Using this application people can give their complaint through online. To register any type of complaint they need to register his personal details along with login details. Once he/she registers in the application he/she can post their complaints.

Online Crime Reporting System for Public Safety

National surveys demonstrate that millions of crimes go Unreported. Several reasons may contribute to this lack of reporting. Also Crime reporting needs to be possible 24/7. Although several other options exist and there are most publicized reporting mechanisms. Internet-based crime reporting systems allow victims and witnesses of crime to report incidents to police 24/7 from any location. The aim of this project is to develop an online crime report and managing system which is easily accessible to the public. The police department and the administrative department. The system is intended for use in a community to help the residents interact with each other more easily and to encourage the reporting of suspicious behaviour or crime.

Execution of Web-Based Crime and Criminals Tracking System to Enable Security and Quick Access

This project work automates web based crime and criminals tracking system. The system is web based application that enable user at the international hotels and at the four police office stations to communicate each other and with district police office. All user of the system are communicating through the internet service provider infrastructure. But if the internet is down, the system will work offline. The system and its database is configured or replicated to the police station’s mini server computers at each woredas. Whenever the network is available the mini servers synchronize data with the central server at the district police office. Before we develop this project the international hotels daily fill form about their customers booked in and send by human labor to the nearby police station. The CCTS alleviates this challenge. Now, using our web system the hotel manager or receptionist access the customer booked in hotel registration page from the server, fills and hit submit button. The information is submitted to the police office through the network and saved to their computer at the same time. While the data is being submitted the data is checked against the criminal’s list using primary key or unique number, if criminal or suspects found alert or report will be displayed to the system administrator with detail information. The prototype has been tested with data from Adama city district police office. It has been observed that the system successfully registers crime and criminals, lost property, international hotels; customer booked in hotel, generates reports and provides search facilities. In addition to these, customers are not expected to go to the four police stations or woredas if they want to register lost property. As lost property, crime and criminals registered at a station it will be shared across the network. It has also been shown that the system facilitates to view the status of cases, knowledge bases. This system promotes the manual works into digital. It reduces the time, produces accurate results and also implements security for the information.

At present crime investigating departments use some of the old outdated file systems to view and analyze the crime details. There are many situations in which data about criminals should be shared with other police stations. When one police station requires any criminal information during their investigations, they need to call at that police station and get it, which is time consuming and require manpower. Also, citizens cannot get any information about criminals and the status of any crime investigation case. Our web based application provides an easy to use platform for the investigating departments concerned with the case in finding the prime suspect. It allows individual investigation teams in different locations to keep track and coordinate on cases. Also, it provides an easy to use interface for general public to submit evidences with respect to specific cases and check the status of any ongoing investigations. Crimes are at rise and becoming difficult for police to identify and catch the criminals. This increasing crime rate can be reduced by giving alert to the person before its occurrence. Our Proposed System will use Face Recognition Algorithms to detect Criminals and will also use face expressions detection to detect expressions of the person. Face Recognition and Face Expression begins with extracting the coordinates of features such as width of mouth, width of eyes, pupil, and compare the result with the measurements stored in the database and return the closest record (facial metrics).The system will be running in detection mode [i.e scanning] .If a person is feeling uncomfortable with people surrounded by him/her, can scan their face and find out whether that particular person has any crime record or not. If the person is having a crime record then the word criminal is displayed on the screen. If the person is not having any crime record but still he/she is feeling uncomfortable then they can use the emergency button, click on the emergency button then the location of user, image of the suspect and user, and a message for rescue is sent to the volunteers of the system. Here volunteers are the persons, who will register into the system in order to help the people in need.
