Sergio Bernardes e a utopia como plano de pensamento sobre a cidade (original) (raw)
Sergio Wladimir Bernardes (1919-2002), natural architect of Rio de Janeiro, graduated in 1948 by the National Faculty of Architecture of the University of Brazil, now the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, had a very singular and proficient career. For the quality and inventiveness of his projects, he quickly ascended his career, sharing the scene of the architecture of Rio de Janeiro and then the national scene, with already consecrated names in Brazilian architecture, such as LĂșcio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer and the Roberto brothers. Over approximately 50 years of professional practice, Bernardes production brings together various projects: furniture, objects, residences, large buildings, public equipment, master plans, urban planning projects and urbanization. With such a scalar variation, his set of works is not segmented, but interpenetrates and amplifies itself adding more intensively the reflections on the city with the advance of its race. So that we can understand more about Sergio Bernardesâ reflections on the city and also understand these reflections from utopian thinking, we propose the construction of this article surrounding one of the most emblematic projects of Sergio Bernardes: Rio do Futuro, published in special edition of Manchete Magazine in 1965. Keywords: Rio de Janeiro. Sergio Bernardes. Utopie
