The data collecting instrument of this study by using the validity test and reliability test. The data analysis technique used a prerequisite analysis test. There are normali...
This research aimed to analyze the gain of students' critical thinking and problem solving ability by using conventional learning; to analyze whether the gain of students' critical thinking and problem solving ability by using problem based learning model better than conventional learning. This research was a quasi experimental research with two group pretest-posttest design. The population of this research was second semester of State Senior High School 1 class X academic year 2016/2017.The sample of this research were two classes that consisted of 70 students by using cluster random sampling technique. Class X MIA-1 as experimental class taught by problem based learning model that consist of 34 students, class X MIA-2 as control class taught by conventional learning that consist of 36 students. The instruments of the research were essay test of critical thinking ability and problem solving ability that consist of 5 questions for each. The data were analyzed by using t-test statistics. The results showed that: the mean gain of students' critical thinking and students' problem solving ability taught by problem based learning was in medium level and the mean gain of students' critical thinking and students' problem solving ability taught by conventional learning was in low level. This study aims to determine: (1) The influence of students' critical thinking ability taught with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model compared to the critical thinking ability taught with the Direct Intruction Class VI model of SD Negeri 14 Tanjung Medan for the 2021/2022 Academic Year; (2) The interaction of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model and critical thinking in the face of students' critical thinking skills. The sample was carried out in two classes, class VI1 as many as 36 students as an experiential class with a Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and class VI2 as a control class as many as 32 students who were taught with the Direct Intruction model. Data collection instruments using critical thinking tests in the form of Multiple Choice as many as 15 items. This research method is quasi-experimental with data analysis techniques using a 2-line Anova test with a significant level of α = 0.05.. The results of this study obtained that: (1) The ability to think critically based on the learning model was obtained that the Fhitung value = 7,558 and the probability value or significant value of the learning model was 0.010 < 0.05.; (2) There is an interaction between learning models and critical thinking and critical thinking; (0.008 < 0.05). For other researchers, it is recommended that before conducting the PBL model treatment, it should be socialized to class VI children and teachers in the school where the research is being studied.

The fact that happened in the field during this perceived lesson IPS less able develop abilities students to thinking critically, solve the problem. Because the learning process in the classroom does not use the thinking strategy of learning. The learning process is only directed so that students can only master and memorize course material only. While critical thinking and problem-solving are indispensable in learning. So that the impact on student learning outcomes is still low. Based on the background, the researcher uses a scientific approach to learning problem-based learning model to improve critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes in IPS learning. The purpose of this research is to improve the ability of critical thinking and learning outcomes of fourth-grade students of SDN Jatikalang 1 Krian through a scientific approach to the problem-based learning model. Implementation of this research using experiment by using a scientific approach with problem-based learning model by using two small class, that is an experiment class and control class. The subject of this research is the students of class IV as the experimental class and class IV B as the control class at SDN Jatikalang 1 Krian. The results showed that students' critical thinking ability increased in the control class at 67.97% and 83.8% for the experimental class. While the average result of student learner in control class is 69,02% and in experimental class 85,54%. The conclusion of this research is a scientific approach to problem-based learning model can improve the ability of critical thinking and student learning outcomes in IPS learning in SDN Jatikalang 1 Krian. For elementary school teachers, especially class IV, it is suggested to use a scientific approach with a problem-based learning model in IPS learning to improve critical thinking ability and student learning outcomes.
Enhancement Student Critical Thinking Skills and Learning Outcomes Using Problem-Based Learning
International Journal of Innovative Research in Advanced Engineering
The purpose of this study was to analyze creative thinking skills and learning outcomes through the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The research design was quantitative quasi-experimental with a control class using a pretest-posttest to measure the effectiveness of the application of the PBL model. The study population was junior high school student's grade IX, the sample was taken specifically for students who studied Civic, Citizenship, and Human Rights Education subjects. Research variables are creative thinking skills and learning outcomes. Data taken by observation and tests. The results showed that the PBL method was better at developing critical thinking skills than the conventional method. The PBL method is able to develop critical thinking skills with an average score of 76.82, in the good category; whereas the conventional method was only able to achieve an average score of 59.86, in the sufficient category. Learning scenarios have also improved student learning outcomes in the experimental class more effectively than students in the control class; the average N-Gain in the experimental class reached 60.07% in the quite effective category, while the average N-Gain in the control class was only 40.81%, in the less effective category. Furthermore, the independent test of the test sample found the sig value (2 tailed) of 0.000 <0.05, so there is a significant difference between the two classes. Judging from the influence of the critical thinking skills variable (x) on post-test learning achievement (y), the regression equation is y = 9.481 + 0.545x, and the contribution is 60%. It is concluded that the PBL model with stages: problem presentation, understanding problems, problem analysis, study and implementation, collection, and summary can improve critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes.

The Problem Based Learning Model To Improve The Students' Critical Thinking Ability
The critical thinking ability is one of the high-level thinking ability that must need to have by the students in solving the problems of learning in daily life. The aimed of this study is to determine the effectiveness of problem in based learning model particularly in improving the critical thinking of the student's ability. This study included quasi experiments with pretest-posttest control group design. Respondents of this study were 123 students that divided into two classes, experimental class and control class. To analysis the data, this study utilized the N-Gain test. The results showed that the improvement of the experimental class is much higher than the control class. Therefore, based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the problem of based learning model was an effective way in improving the critical thinking of the student's ability in the setting of teaching learning process.

Journal of Education and Learning (EduLearn), 2019
The previous research result showed that the learning model based on the investigation could increase the students' critical thinking skills. The aim of this research was to measure the effectiveness of the using of problem-based learning model to increase the students' critical thinking skills. The research design was quasi-experiment by using post-test only design. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students of science which contained 124 students of SMAN 6 and SMAN 7 Kupang that were chosen randomly. The treatment that was given in this research was problem-based learning model for the experiment class and conventional model for the control class whereas the given materials were the reaction rate. The instrument that was used in this research previously validated by two experts of theory and material. The result of this research showed that the students who studied in experiment class had different critical thinking skills better that the students who studied using conventional model.
Profile of Problem Based Learning to Improve Students' Critical Thinking Skills
IJORER : International Journal of Recent Educational Research, 2021
This article was created to identify the effect of the Problem Based Learning model in improving students' critical thinking. The data collection method is in the form of a literature study. This article explains that problem-based learning is a learning model that focuses on students' solving problems in physics concepts. Critical thinking is the student's ability to analyze and evaluate the information received to conclude appropriately. The results of the literature study showed an increase in students' critical thinking skills in the learning process with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. The application of Problem Based Learning has an average increase of about 50% after the learning pattern is applied. The existence of the PBL learning model is effectively used to improve students' critical thinking, which incidentally in solving physics concepts requires the ability to analyze and evaluate to conclude.
