Abstract

This work aims to analyze the development of geographic reasoning in the educational practice of the geography teacher. In search of achieving this purpose, qualitative research was used in the production and analysis of results, in which the bibliographic and field procedure were used. In the first, the bibliographic research, surveys of the theoretical referring to geographic reasoning and didactic-pedagogical strategies were carried out. In the field, systematic observations were made with a geography teacher during the second half of 2018. The results showed that geographic reasoning is a cognitive process that can be developed in teaching by the geography teacher. And, for that, it is necessary to mobilize the knowledge of geographic science, pedagogical and the conditions of the student's context. Thus, the observations of a Geography teacher's classes presented some difficulties in such development, as there was no appropriation of the fundamentals of Geography, nor the articulation of the pedagogical with the student's reality.
