Kadıköy downtown district –considered as one of the lower centers of Istanbul– has evolved into a spatial space that was shaped by the consumption culture in the last 25-30 years. This article uses as a reference the structures that the consumption culture has shaped under the influence of the socio-cultural, socio-economic, and political changes in the social structure. In the past, this was an area of separate or adjacent houses and apartment buildings most of which with commercial establishments on ground floors. The diversification of socio-cultural, socio-economic elements and consumption cultures have caused major changes. The area has turned into a commercial center. The process of home-to-business transformation– which forms the basis of the problem. This study consists of two parts. In the first, the globalization, consumption culture, space analysis created by consumption culture , and the theoretical plan will be summarized. In the second, quantitative and qualitative changes of the transformed structures will be depicted. Research methods and survey results will be presented and inferences will be made drawn from the functional changes of spaces, their new forms, the process of transformation from house to business, interior typologies, type of space, user, and consumption interaction.
