Characteristics and Behaviors of Tourists: Case of Middle East Tourists in Puncak Cianjur, Indonesia, from Tour Guides’ Perspective

Government of Indonesia considered that Middle Eastern tourists are an important market share to develop. Role of tour guides on tourist satisfaction level in guided tours and impact on re-visiting intention: a research in Istanbul

Traveller's wishes, needs and expectations keep changing constantly as destinations vie with each other to increase their share from the international tourism pie. Destinations need to offer qualified service and renew themselves continuously. In this context, tour guides as key representatives of destinations play a significant role on tourist satisfaction and re-visit intention. This research aims to ascertain the role played by tour guides on the satisfaction level of tourists participating in guided tours in Istanbul. Another aim of this research is to determine the impact level of tour guides on the possible re-visit intention of tourists to the same destination. Based on 530 completed surveys from international tourists, the findings revealed a significant relationship between tourist satisfaction , re-visiting intention and tour guiding service. Following the evaluation of the findings, recommendations were developed for the tourism industry.

Tour guides as a supportive tool for the experiential image of Jordan's destination: a French tourists' perspective

Tour guides as representatives for any destination by playing a vital role in supporting destinations experiential image (EI), and they could be a successful service recovery tool for improving EI. The purpose of this paper is to assess the experiential image of Jordan as a destination and how this destination is perceived by the French tourists as well as the role played by tour guides as a supporting tool for the image of destinations. A structured questionnaire was distributed to the French tourists after they'd spent a few days in Jordan. The main findings of this paper revealed that both hypotheses received empirical support. This study highlights the importance of tour guides in destination EI studies. Implication and future venues discussed.

Challenges Affecting the Quality Service of the Tour Guide in Egypt

The research spots the light on the challenges that face the Egyptian tour guide and could affect on his service quality. Several studies were previously done on these challenges in other countries; however, this study is considered the first to be done in Egypt. The researcher depended on interviews with members of the Egyptian tour-guiding Syndicate, travel agencies, and numbers of Tour-guides. Through these interviews certain challenges are detected: the poor payment, the role conflict between the tour leader and the tour-guide, the foreign labour, feeling not appreciated from the government, renewing the licence, creation of other tour-guiding jobs.

A Study on the Effectiveness of Tour Guides Training Programs in Iran-Tehran

This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of tour guides training programs of Tehran. The research Method applied in the study was descriptive in terms of data collection method, and practical in terms of the purpose of the study. The population was composed of both tour guides training course learners and travel agency managers in Tehran (N = 545). Sampling in this study was stratified random and the sample size was calculated based on Krejcie-Morgan Table (n = 166). The data gathering instruments were two researcher-administered questionnaires based on Kirkpatrick's model. The first questionnaire consisted of three indicators of attitude (reaction), learning and behavior and answered by learners and the second questionnaire contained questions that evaluated two components of behavior and the results and was filled out by the travel agency managers. The Questionnaires' validity were determined through the judgment of 10 tourism training experts and university professors and the reliability was assessed by Cronbach's alpha coefficient (α = 0.79).
